… as was mine. Didn’t we wear white shorts for some reason. Was it Jones and Birchenall who scored - at a guess? My first derby was September 1966 at Hillsborough 2-2

Think so, my 1st Derby was that Season's home game, haven't missed one since.… as was mine. Didn’t we wear white shorts for some reason. Was it Jones and Birchenall who scored - at a guess?
Woodward and Jones scored in that match. Birchenall scored 6 times in the four previous Sheffield Derby matches.… as was mine. Didn’t we wear white shorts for some reason. Was it Jones and Birchenall who scored - at a guess?

Believe we did. Think we played for a season or two in white shorts. We were 2-0 can’t remember the scorers. I was in the open seats opposite their big side stand. Hillsborough was a good ground in those days… as was mine. Didn’t we wear white shorts for some reason. Was it Jones and Birchenall who scored - at a guess?
Birchenall with both he had the Indian sign on pigs ! Until we sold him and Jones ! For me the biggest gaff the club has made the blond bomber s as they were called were having a great time and then we sold em!!… as was mine. Didn’t we wear white shorts for some reason. Paper or Howard’s Mrs?I don’t like them. Due to some personal reasons i’m always welcome in their directors area, i’ve only ever used the offer for derbies. Sat next to Chansiri at the last one. Man was a nervous wreck. His breathing into a bag irked Howard Wilkinson who was sat in front.
When Spurs came to the Lane for a midweek fixture in September 1966, they brought their dark shorts so the ref ordered us to wear white shorts, we bear Spurs 2-1. We then decided to wear our "lucky" white shorts for the next few months as we were on a good run, we reverted to black shorts after two defeats in December 1966 (you can see the reports and photos in the 1966-67 thread). It was decided in summer 1967 that we would play with white shorts for the 1967-68 season. It didnt bring us much luck for the season despite that we switched back to black shorts in the last game of the season (v Chelsea)Believe we did. Think we played for a season or two in white shorts. He didnt score in the September 1966 match when we wore white shorts. He did score both in the March 1966 match (we wore black shorts)Birchenall with both he had the Indian sign on pigs !
We lost that 1-2 from memory, think West Ham beat us by the same score two weeks earlier. Didn’t we also lose a relegation 4 pointer at home against S’land around the same time ?When Spurs came to the Lane for a midweek fixture in September 1966, they brought their dark shorts so the ref ordered us to wear white shorts, we bear Spurs 2-1. Yes, we didnt win a home game for the rest of the season after beating Spurs 3-2 in February 1968.We lost that 1-2 from memory, think West Ham beat us by the same score two weeks earlier. Didn’t we also lose a relegation 4 pointer at home against S’land around the same time ?
