In an early interview Wilder indicated that he wanted to sort transfers out early and have them done for the start of pre-season.

From his interviews it looks like he's still after:

1 x GK (depending on Long)
3 X CB
1 CM
1 X LW
1 X CF

I believe I'm correct in thinking that they're back on the 23rd June?

I really can't see that happening. Indeed, with a few excuses starting the slip out, the use of 'across the line' and now the delay in looking for a scout, my spidey senses are starting to tingle.

It doesn't sound as though we're currently close to getting anyone 'over the line' and I'm beginning to get a slight touch of deja vu.

Could just be paranoia. Could just be experience.

I also think I remember, in his last interview, that the 3 CBs have now gone down to 2 with Semple and Basham providing cover? My memory isn't the best.
 
I think the lad Holmes from Northampton will sign quite soon but it's centre back that worries me. We've need at least 2 centre halves ever since Harry left and they are proving hard for us to come by ! Wilder must know the best centre backs in division two and you have to bet one is on his list along with someone with higher league experience, hopefully Macfadzean.

It comes down to wages. We've already missed out on one of the best in league 2. I'd suspect McFadzean would want more than we're will to pay, albeit he may make an exception for us.

We also need to sort loans out as early as possible with the new rules. He kind of indicated he didn't have much of an idea other than who did well last year and needed a scout to help him. When there's no scout in place I do worry.

That's why I would have kept McEveley for cover. We are in danger of not having enough cover at the back.

Its been a frustrating week so far, but there's a lot that can happen between now and the 23rd. Also I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two come during the pre season. Wilder would be doing well to get all he wants before the 23rd, given the scale of re-shaping required. Some teams haven't made their first signing yet. There's still plenty of decent freebies out there and no doubt a few we've not even thought of like Hussey was.

I'm looking forward to the Euro's partly so it distracts me from the frustration of no imminent transfer activity!

Re your point on deja vu. Adkins continually said last pre-season that deals often happen right at the end of the window. Whilst that's true, I think his inability to get deals over the line way before then was a mistake, whereas Wilder seems intent on brining in people now, and he's already brought in two.
 



The club has recently signed 2 more a centre back and a midfielder and potentially 2 more before the start of next week, the balls rolling, I'm just not sure on the players.

I can't see 3 centre backs signing. Defo 2 but the third in the door will want game time and would probs want to go to a club where he is as near as damned it going to play.....

Yes, you'd think everything could happen instantly, wouldn't you. Just like magic. Typical Blades – we need loads of new players and we've only signed two and there's only two months to the start of the next season.
