we did not play well today.

We were awful out of possession and didn’t lay a glove on Brighton.

2 silly pens , 2 goals where the closing down was non existent.

Poor decisions made when we had opportunities in and around their box.

it's what being a blade is all about. Years of lows with a few highs interspaced now and then.
Anyone whose been on this 'journey ' (as they say in modern parlance) would have known before a ball had been kicked this season, that we were in for a momentous struggle.
Which is what's happening right now.

Million dollar question, just look how smaller clubs from smaller towns have progressed though while our club and even that shower in s6 have become light years behind, what is the formula, I don’t know but look at the squads of BHA, Fulham, Brentford, Villa and others who traditionally either are lower league or swap between the top 2 divisions, come on Sheffield United, do what the others are doing

Recent seasons would suggest we're not "light years behind" and no amount of exaggeration makes any point more valid.
We're clearly in another transitionary period having changed manager and philosophy.
Patience is needed,not entitlement.
Without blowing Wilder's trumpet, I imagine he's as qualified as anyone in football to know what the "Sheff Utd way" is.

While we share a few chuckles often it's rare my mate catches me off guard and makes me laugh when I wasn't expecting it. Many years ago we were regular season ticket holders but unable to go as often now and their 2nd goal went in, we were continuing to stand off them and at one point one Brighton player had the ball, he stopped in the centre circle, put his foot on the ball and took a moment to figure out what the next play will be. Mate then turns to me with no sarcasm and says "... Do miss the season ticket and not watching every game"

I actually laughed properly which was interesting as the rest of the crowd were screaming obscenities to the team.

We've not got a good squad, and we didn't come into this season with any discernible system, so nothing really that elevated players above their level. It was going nowhere, and so fans wanted Hecky out. Accepting were shit would have been to stick and clap.

Being realistic, we do not have the players (and don't have an 11 used to a system) to suddenly become a good team in this league. Improved performances and competing with teams is all the progress we're going to get this season. That's just a fact, based on the situation on and off field. Getting angry about it etc doesn't mean you care more and it doesn't change the facts.

Conceding 5 yesterday is shit, but we didn't put our strongest team out, played against a side at least one level above us and really had a similar amount of good chances. It wasn't a shafting TBF. It wasn't the Burnley and Newcastle games. People continuing to accept those, and I'd be agreeing with you. But that's not the case.

I get as disappointed as anyone when things don't go well. But as I have got older (been going since 1971) I just try and enjoy it and not take things so seriously. Yes, it would be nice to see some progress in the Prem. But I had a good day out yesterday .A few beers, bit of banter with my mates, enjoyed our goals, then home to the family.
Not becoming the next Man City is the least of my worries.

Remember when conceding 5 or more in a league/cup game was a once or twice a decade thing?

We've conceded 5 or more 5 times this season. Had a look back through the archives and I think this is the worst since 1954/55 when we managed it 6 times. So still another 15 games to go and only another couple of thumpings to beat that record.

I think they do give a fuck and they'll be hurting but they will also know that no matter what they do they are so far out of their depth that they just aren't good enough to compete at this level .
