Thing is they never really carved us open. W good goals keepr had very little chance with and 2 pens which ref couldn't wait to give (1 harsh) then 5th goal was bit shit to give away.

What would you do to change it?
Million dollar question, just look how smaller clubs from smaller towns have progressed though while our club and even that shower in s6 have become light years behind, what is the formula, I don’t know but look at the squads of BHA, Fulham, Brentford, Villa and others who traditionally either are lower league or swap between the top 2 divisions, come on Sheffield United, do what the others are doing

We’ve got a fairly decent record in progressing in the FA Cup… so we perhaps have a formula that many sides don’t have…

90’s - semi finals in 93 and 98
00’s - semi final in 2003
10’s - semi final in 2014
20’s - semi final in 2023

That’s 5 semi finals in 31 years

So I guess we should strive for the same ratio, fair point

Quite a few. The biggest task will be what Wilder is like through them. Will he not have one of his meltdown interviews and just get the season over so we can start fresh next season without ticking off the players that will still be here then?

….do we have to endure, this is getting very very tiresome and is tiresome in our acceptance of it, this is not the Sheff Utd way. Our club is an embarrassment
I said to my mates on the way home that if we had played only 10 PL games , with the current squad and the progress Wilder has made ,then I would be quite optimistic.

Thought we played quite well today and created some good chances against a well drilled , skilful opponent.

we did not play well today.

We looked decent when we had possession of the ball. (Decent)

We were awful out of possession and didn’t lay a glove on Brighton.

2 silly pens , 2 goals where the closing down was non existent.

Poor decisions made when we had opportunities in and around their box.

If people thought we played well then you have well and truly been brain washed.

We defended catastrophically in terms of individual errors, but that’s not new. It screams that we need to recruit at the back.

I can forgive it more against Brighton because I think they’re a remarkable outfit. But the Luton game was the one that will have made up Wilder’s mind.

If he can sell Anel for reasonable money and get two reliable defenders in return, I think he pulls the trigger in an instant.

We haven't got the owners money they've got unfortunately...😶

The first penalty may have been soft, I'll need to see it back, but from my vantage point on the JSS the other four goals could all have been avoided by competent defending, despite decent strikes for the first and fourth

Have you some spare cash?

Perhaps a suggestion rather than stating the obvious would be better.

Wilder admitted in post match interview, the team he picked , had Tuesday at Palace in mind. Whatever you think about new keeper, bet it did his confidence loads, conceding 5 today. Emphatic from Wilder, right or wrong, Ivo is our new number one. Word is , the management are really pissed Wes has not signed a new contract.

It was an outing for many second string players - look at the bench
We didn’t need or want a cup run but learned a lot
RND back in the team - tick
Norwood proving he’s not part of the future - tick
Bogle is not a full back so the arrival of Curtis might mean he can be released upfield where he belongs.
Anel asleep for the 3rd goal - mentally, he’s gone so I fully expect him to leave now - best for all concerned
Brighton are a very good side and we’ll now get back to grinding out what we can from this season. PL or Championship, we’re building for next season.

I don't know what people expect when you start Norwood and Osborn in midfield
When it was 2-0 I said to my mum I wish we could terminate both their contracts at half time, she thought that was harsh, although when Osborn went off later she thought he was coming on as she hadn't even noticed he was playing.

And if you think this is bad …, Dear fkg dear …, some of our lot think If I cover my ears and shout la- la-la … then it’s not really happening… and they thought mid table in League 1 ( Div 3 to t my age group ) was bad .. FFS you don’t know your born 🌞

and what do you suggest I suggest?? I support and watch my team, the suggestions come from those who’s monthly payslip says Sheffield United at the head of that slip 🙄

Played alright today. How did you lot do?
As mentioned on another thread, we created more efforts at goal and had 3x as many corners.

The opportunities were there.

We just gifted up high quality chances the other way i.e. two penalties, and met a team who executed with forensic precision.

I think the score flattered them. But it showed our weaknesses.

The defence, especially Bogle, are often way off his man. Like Anel, at a lower level this will be offset by the possession we get and his ability to attack with the ball. Against a team who dominate possession it doesn’t get compensated.

Both long shots should have been closed down and it shows why Anel isn’t the dominant defender we need in a 4. You need someone to put their bodies on the line and block up the middle and he simply did not and neither did Trusty. Both were given clear sights, 1st and 4th when they should have been closed down.

I thought Norrington-Davies was very competitive and perhaps the state of the game, chasing a goal, left us open, but Larouci had ample chance to make it difficult for Welbeck but failed to do so. You’d hope the keeper would do better there but he deserves more protection.

I’d far rather have Robinson and Norrington-Davies there on the left next season in a 4. Both are no nonsense and Rhys gets forward well and Robbo’s long throw can be useful. Maybe Trusty deputises for either and you have another in reserve. For now I don’t see the point of Larouci. If we’re really short there we’ll pick Osborn as he’s ours, until the summer at least. It seems BBD and Archer are going to vie for the left slow, so I don’t see where he gets games. If we can end his loan I would do, especially with Lowe reportedly back shortly. May as well be penny wise with folk like him.
