Yes, Woody holding the big cup with Mick Jones. Ken Wagstaff wasnt related to Barry and Tony

No, the player holding the little trophy with Barry Wagstaff is called Disney (forgot his first name, LSF will know) who never played in the first team

Who is it between Jones and Birchenall ?

Knew Munks was around at the time but remember him with a mod haircut some time later.

(Watch it be Munks between J&B :) )

So far we have in front row (the names in bold played in first team?? are the unidentified ones so far who have played in the first team); Alan Birchenall, Disney, Barry Wagstaff, Len Badger, Alan Woodward, ??, Clarke, Mick Jones, ??, Brian Conley, ??
Back row; forgot his name, Dave Walton (keeper), Mick Harrity (he was a taxi driver that took me to Maud Maxfield in 1971-72), Mick Heaton, ??, Bill and George Robinson

Birchenall is on far left and Jones is fourth right holding the big cup with Woody!

Is that Phil Cliff at the back - almost right above Mick Jones head?

Correct, now two more who have played for the first team...The one looking over Jones left shoulder and the tall blond hair lad above the big cup

All done (LSF will name the lad on top row far left and will know the christian names of Disney and Clarke)

front row (the names in bold played in first team); Alan Birchenall, Disney,Barry Wagstaff, Len Badger, Alan Woodward, Charlie Bell, Clarke, Mick Jones, Frank Barlow, Brian Conley, David Munks

Is Bernard Shaw in there ? He'd be the right age.
Not there. He was born in March 1945. Mick Jones was born in April 1945. I remember March 31st being the cut off date (now it is August 31st)when it came to age groups when I was at school so Bernard would have been ineligible.

Yet to look at photo (will do later, busy at moment) but it's Mick Disney ( fondly known as Walt!), keeper is Ken Walton not Dave, and Michael Clark was always known as Sam Clarke.

What a great historian you are silent do you have the aid of scrapbooks or similar as you are so accurate with your facts?,That was the last group that Archie Clarke (ass- manager and chief scout) was involved with he died soon after,we never replaced him he was great at spotting local talent.
To get so many into the first team was quite something ( we were a
first division club at the time) we did get relegated soon after mainly due to selling Jones &Birchenall, John Harris was close to resigning due to it.That season in question,I think Sherman scored 60 goals with Mick Jones playing a supporting roll.
Just what could have been? if we had not sold them.

Cheers Finlay, When I got the "First 100 Years" book by Denis Clareborough in 1989 I couldn't put it down. For about 12 to 13 years after that I kept going to look at Morning Telegraph/Star and Green Un archives at the Central Library.

Yes, Birchenall was signed from Thorneywood Athletic (Nottingham) in 1963, scored over 50 goals in the Youth team in the 1963-64 season. Jones was in and out of the first team, played reserves matches too, so I imagine he played only in important youth matches

The missing lad may be Stewart Unwin, a full back.
