We struggled to create with Hamer in the team last season.all creative players rely on others giving them the ball , Selles had no idea how to do that
I think it's just Wilder's style of play these days. It was the same last season. He's cautious, prefers a safety-first approach and relying on star players to create moments of magic to win games.I see all that as the precursor to building back the confidence.
First target is to get some consistency and move away from the bottom.
Second is to reach a point where we are looking up and not down.
Third is to be in a race to chase down the pack.
Those three need confidence, consistency and the scoring of multiple goals a game.
Yes, it comes to your point of creating chances but they comes from instilling a shape and confidence for the better players to do their stuff
Now we are getting better and not rolling over like we were under the previous, I can see us flirting with the play offs if we improve in Jan and get some of the injured players back.
I think a lot of teams do that.I think it's just Wilder's style of play these days. It was the same last season. He's cautious, prefers a safety-first approach and relying on star players to create moments of magic to win games.
I think it'll be good enough to get us out of the mire. And because I'm an optimist, I'll be keeping half an eye on the team in sixth place.
Yeah, it worked for Burnley last year, although they did seem to take the handbrake off a bit after Christmas.I think a lot of teams do that.
Burnley last year.
Leeds an exception as they were always dominant (except for a good chunk of the game at Bramall Lane before they equalised)
Cov appear to be swamping teams at the moment but the rest aren’t exactly stellar. Boro, Millwall, Stoke, Charlton. All very workmanlike but not exactly tearing everyone a new one.
10% improvement would have seen us hit 99 points. If we only had players like Hamer and Arblaster
making good steady progress, with several new faces , no doubt Wilder might not have brought in
Coventry put faith in Lampard to improve what they had, pity we didnt. A 10 per cent improvement could have seen us hit 100 points
10% would have seen us hit 100 since we accumulated 92 last season and you can’t have a partial point.10% improvement would have seen us hit 99 points.
Sorry, pedantry over.
We'd still have had the two points deducted though.10% would have seen us hit 100 since we accumulated 92 last season and you can’t have a partial point.
My pedantry persists. Not sorry
oh so thats why we only won 92 pointsWe struggled to create with Hamer in the team last season.
We don’t have a deduction this season so a 10% improvement on last season would have taken us to 100 pointsWe'd still have had the two points deducted though.
We didn't get to 92 points by being particularly creative. We did loads of other things really well, and when our chances came we took them, but we were not an exceptional attacking team by any stretch of the imagination. Especially after Christmas.oh so thats why we only won 92 points
no problem ifwe get 99 this season cantsee 2 others hitting over 100, as we would have 9 extra10% improvement would have seen us hit 99 points.
Sorry, pedantry over.
any football team isnt productive in 46 gameWe didn't get to 92 points by being particularly creative. We did loads of other things really well, and when our chances came we took them, but we were not an exceptional attacking team by any stretch of the imagination. Especially after Christmas.
But some teams did create more than us over 46 games last season, including some with smaller budgets and worse players.any football team isnt productive in 46 game
how many games did arsenal win 1-0 , they sing about that and sem happy ,, we win games and get some right miserble so and sos on here
Im not offended just surprised the term supporter seemed to have gone from backing the club you follow has turned into constant unending criticismBut some teams did create more than us over 46 games last season, including some with smaller budgets and worse players.
The problem is less miserable so and sos and more you being mortally offended every time someone says something vaguely critical.
If you think my post was an example of “constant unending criticism” then you’re even more sensitive than I thought.Im not offended just surprised the term supporter seemed to have gone from backing the club you follow has turned into constant unending criticism
I say weve been poor when we are but I dont spend days on end apportioning blame,
we are not blessed with billionaire owners that could buy the quality of players some insist we need
the 2 clubs that did finish above us spent considerably more than we did and paid higher wages, Wilder has o work with what he gets

Ones against teams like Manchester United/Liverpool/Chelsea. The others against teams like Plymouth, Oxford and millwall.. (which we lost to ironically).any football team isnt productive in 46 game

Aye, ones in the premier league, we’re in the championship. There’s a bit of a differenceliverpools lost 3 on the bounce
man utd nearly got dragged into a relegation battle had 3 promoted clubs hadnt been so bad
even man city won away in the CL last night for the first time sincelast october

Performances HAVE been garbage, and I stand by the things I’ve said. Not knee jerk, I stand by it. Performances have been garbage, a couple of results don’t paper over that IMO.
Mid level championship budget clubs don’t spent 10M on shite like Cannon. We’ve cut our cloth accordingly. Last season we were one of few getting parachute payments at a decent level.we operate on a mid level championship budget
what can we expect
"Those purchases mean the Black Cats have spent £161.7m on transfer fees this summer - almost £20m more than any other promoted club in Premier League history. The previous record was Nottingham Forest's £142m outlay in 2022." we think 50m is big money, and our wage bill is miniscule
There's a club nearby who spent that on Rhodes 6/7 years ago without parachute paymentsMid level championship budget clubs don’t spent 10M on shite like Cannon. We’ve cut our cloth accordingly. Last season we were one of few getting parachute payments at a decent level.
We also spent over £100M the last time we were in the premier league, equally on mostly dross. Why?
So it’s an outlier then? Look at the predicament they’re now in too. There's a club nearby who spent that on Rhodes 6/7 years ago without parachute payments
Only scored 63 goals. Lowest scorers and lowest GD to ever get to 90+oh so thats why we only won 92 points
