How do we protest against the current regime?

I have to say this again. A protest - whatever that may entail in a practical sense - at the current situation would be acutely embarrasing. My brow would disintegrate from the extreme level of cringing. It would show us as an entitled, arrogant fanbase that think we deserve more than we get. Which we absolutely don't. We all like to joke about the South Barnsley Mid-Week Massive having lofty, unwarranted ideas above their station, but we may fall foul of that ourselves if fans protest the "crisis" we are currently "enduring." Results aren't what we want right now, and I'd like to see more positive football and less 0-0 draws with relegation sides as much as the rest of you, but a protest? Who are you tryin' to kid.

You keep saying over and over again about not going to the Lane anymore then why dont you do it instead of trying to get people to follow you? I will still go to the Lane as long as I am alive and so will thousands of Blades.

Serious question, do you still think I should go to the Lane, or in your expert opinion do you think I should fuck off to Meadowhall, just because I'm not entirely happy with spending 5+ years in this godforsaken shithole of a Division, and that period coinciding with pretty much with having 2 absentee foreign owners who you may want to fellate, but who are presiding over the clubs worst spell in the last 30 years.

Right, what has Danny Wilson done since? Apart from taking Barnsley down and getting sacked?

LOL, I wasn't aware that we judged the success of our managers by what they have done at other clubs. Nicely swerved.

'Wilson has the highest percentage win rate of any permanent manager in the history of Sheffield United' oops I said it again!

Wilson was crap and is still living off one of his only promotions, taking Barnsley to the Prem about 16 years ago. End of story.

Actually he will be living off his managers salary as one of the select band of managers who have managed for over 1000 games.

Still don't let any of this stop you rubbishing him.

Oh and.....End of story!..........;)

Without the cringey shoes off business?

Is the only way to do it to not get a season ticket next year? This dual ownership is even worse than having just McCabe because at least then we knew who was accountable, now we haven't got a clue...

We're happy with a point at Blackpool in league one. If not now when do we start letting the board know in no uncertain terms this isn't good enough?

They're full of excuses, full of promises, but not much that comes to fruition.

If you're willing to spend you find a way to do it. If you aren't you find excuses. It's a shame that our position is so easy to categorise.

I've never been more fed up, we aren't going anywhere and the clueless cunts on the board aren't in a rush to sort that out. I'm not even asking for them to pump millions in, just actually get someone on the board who knows football and can change our approach. We are the most unprofessional side in the whole football league. Its embarrassing.

For someone who professes to be so in tune with Blades Public opinion, 2 likes, at the time of writing, in response to your call to arms, is not compelling is it? Neither is 0 likes in response to “everybody hated Wilson.” I didn’t hate him and felt he did a good job given the context he had to operate in, i.e. win promotion whilst losing your best players after Chedgate.

The problem with your “protest” movement is it’s not really clear what you’re protesting about other than the fact that we’re playing in Division 3.

“The clueless c**** on the board” you refer to are the same people who made the most popular managerial appointment in living memory in June and backed him with serious money to recruit the likes of Sharpe, Sammon, Hammond and Edgar.

Prior to that they made another popular appointment in Cloughie Jnr and again provided strong financial backing (including investing £2m in Brayford).

Moaning at the board for not spending money is a lazy whine and does not bear scrutiny – hence does not really take us anywhere. The money has been spent – it just hasn’t got us where we all hoped. You may therefore have a point in the need for a “football person” on the board. Rather than protest, why don’t you suggest someone?

I am not happy being in this division for the last 5 years but I wouldnt dream of trying to do witch-hunting like you are doing over and over again. It is so boring and cringeworthy.

This reminds me of my dad's cousin being fed up of her neighbour who kept saying that she is going to throw herself under a train so one day my dad's cousin snapped "You keep saying that so why dont you do it?" Unfortunately not long after the lady did kill herself by jumping in front of a train!

no lets not get too hasty & with our defence it was always going to be a tough season because i think i said at the start of season when i was amazed at 442 league 1 prediction that we would be runaway winners. the media have seemingly forgotten about our defence. It was nowhere near good enough last season & there's been no defenders incoming so its madness to expect better defending with same defence (along lines of famous einstein quote)

maybe us fans are at fault last season before i start this is nothing against nigel adkins, he's doing a great job but maybe we were too hasty in wanting clough to be gone & im one of those, that in cloughs 3rd yr the added stability may have got us in that top 5 instead of the 2nd section of league 1 fighting for 6th

Yeah. It's the fans fault.

The Chesterfield fans I spoke to seem to think that's the price they want and at this stage I'm not inclined to brush their chat to one side. They'll know more than us, mate, although admittedly they could be wrong at the same time. We might never know for real in the footballing world of undisclosed fees but you can have a dig at me whenever you like, mate. :D
Well bloody hell, if it's 200k we could have a whip-round among the members of this forum and raise a fair bit of it.

Isn't that the real reason for our frustration though? We're shit and no-one can really explain why. We've made some poor managerial appointments but also some reasonable ones, the last one is now managing a club above us and the current one has won four promotions. If changing managers, from a pretty good one to a very accomplished one, doesn't sort us out, what will?
Other clubs have bad luck, other clubs lose their best players but they deal with it.
Right now it seems we can only write this season off and hope that Adkins is given sufficient support to re-build the team. And once again we are into a rebuilding process which, realistically could take two seasons. Adkins won't get another two seasons so it's quite possible that we could sack him and the next manager has to work with a squad his predecessor built. And we're back to square one again.

Wilson may well have taken us up if he hadn't been sacked, Clough may well have taken us up this season. The last time McCabe stuck with a manager who he thought could do the job, and remember he could easily have been sacked at the end of 04/05, Warnock took us up the season after.

In an ideal world Adkins would get 2-3 years to build his team but unfortunately, if we don't go up this season and aren't top 2 by Xmas, he probably won't see 2017 as our manager and as you say, the wheels turn and we start all over again. That's the problem being in this division, we can't afford to stay here but in keep replacing the manager, losing our better players and having to re-build we are just stuck in a vicious circle.

What a bunch of old bollocks. You sit on your arse and do nothing about it then. The rest of us that actually care about this sorry state of affairs will do what we can to change it. If you want to lie down and roll over, that's up to you. I don't because I happen to give a fuck about the club.

Can I just ask what exactly it is that you think you could change by protesting that 1) would actually make a difference and 2) is actually achievable ?

And what exactly are you doing to change it ?

you missed the bit about...

"and I have demonstrated my love for this wonderful club by selling my season ticket and not going since the, er, Millwall-ish game"

You really are a prize pillock.

It would make McCabe, the Prince and the rest of the board realise we aren't a set of pushovers that are going to continually put up with the way things are. A simple walk out on the last home game of the season would definitely achieve that. It'd be a real shame if posters like Damski can't even be arsed to do that. It's not like it takes that much of an individual effort, but it would certainly carry a collective effect.

Yes. A form of protesting and a way of doing something about the situation.

If that makes me a prize pillock, then I'm proud of the label.

OK, I did say achievable but let's say your mass walk out actually happens and McCabe and the Prince realise we're not pushovers (whatever that means) then what happens ?

Doing nothing definitely has no effect. Which is better?

Right okay... So he's got the 'highest percentage win rate of any permanent manager in the history of Sheffield United' - but what was his ultimate goal? Promotion. Did he fail? Yes. He's a failure.
Kevin Blackwell had a 42% ratio in the league above, do you rate him as well?

Danny Wilson has done NOTHING of note for ANYONE for 12 years. The last few months of his tenure were just as mind numbing as we are currently with much much better players.

OK, I did say achievable but let's say your mass walk out actually happens and McCabe and the Prince realise we're not pushovers (whatever that means) then what happens ?

Then may I suggest people hold onto their hard-earned and put-to-one-side readies before blindly splashing out on a Season Ticket, at least until the transfer window shuts. It may help in two ways:

1. The fans down't sit down to watch Sheffield United being turned over by freshly-promoted sides or sides with vastly lower income streams in ninety minutes of awful, embarrassing football. The absence of key playrs transferred out within two weeks of the season starting is the marker here.
2. The board realise that fan patience and following is dwindling, and results and support are mutually self generating. It starts with retaining good players, it manifests itself into good results and league positions and it transports itself into an increasing income stream. But I don't need to tell them that. We had 30 odd thousand at the Lane vs Liverpool for the first game uin the PL.

Someone, collectively or otherwise, has to do something. And it has to be passive.

I couldn't care less about likes, so that's that one out of the way. As for Wilson, the vast majority of fans wanted him out before we'd even kicked a ball (I didnt...) but towards the end the mood was very much 'get rid'. Surely your memory can't have faded that badly?

The board listened to the supporters over the appointment, fair play on that score. It took some time but they did.
Have they backed him? I'd say selling Murphy more than covers Sharp and Woolford for a start. He's still got half a team...

They are clueless in a football sense and don't kid yourself on that sense.

A football man, a Sheffield United man, fair enough, Neil Warnock. There you go.

Have an agreement from me, sir.

Good manager.
If Evans had 'kept his sausage dry' we would have never seen him in L1. We'd have cashed in and cut our losses when Ipswich were sniffing.
That is a FACT.

So we'd have had Cresswell and Porter up top, would that have got us promotion or even top 6? Not entirely sure...

Who knows? That's up to them. It'll either have no effect or a positive effect.

Doing nothing definitely has no effect. Which is better?

So what is the ideal 'effect' you are looking for?

-McCabe finds £5m down the back of his sofa and the Prince matches it, so we can guarantee promotion by buying exactly who?

-McCabe appears on the Jermey Kyle show in tears and promises to write off all the loans he's made to us and give his shares to a Fans Trust.
Bob Cratchett is happy with just a goose.

-McCabe, still overcome with emotion sacks Adkins who he says was only ever a stop gap. The managerial dream team of Brian-the-Blade and Barney as Assistant, promise to lead us back to the glory days of 1980/81.

This protesting is just sooooooooooo simple, why didn't we think of it before?

Like the other guy, I can only presume you're joking. This is surprising because it was only the other week we were at each other's throats but I think pommpey's already hit the nail on the head further up.
