Van Gaal needs a win, he's going to put out a strong XI. We need to be prepared, and for me it's a time now to change the team a bit.

If we're going to beat them we'll need to hit them on the counter, as it stands the players we put out haven't got enough pace to do that.

We must play 2 of JCR, Done, Scougall and Che. This wouldn't weaken our side as they are all a similar level, but if we drop Woolford (been playing well...) and Sammon (not so much) for 2 of these we could possibly have enough pace to at least ask questions. JCR is a big game player, look at the performances away at QPR and Spurs - he played out of skin. and our record with him in the side away from home is great so for me he'd be a shoo-in in place of Woolford.

Now it's down to who replaces Sammon for me, Done or Che? Che is a match winner on his day but they are far between, Done gives you 90 minutes of running and commitment which we will need both of. It's a tough choice between the two but for me Che shades it for his unpredictability. Bring Done on later on if that isn't working. Both can tuck in on the wing if we're getting pinned back to give us a 5 in midfield. That's important against this calibre of opposition.

On the other hand, the important part - stopping them.

All of the defenders and midfielders will have to be performing at an 7 or 8/10 at the very least for us to stand a chance. The midfield have to stop the playmakers, be it Carrick, Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger. Gulp. It will involve a lot of ground covering, is Hammond up to that task? We know Bash can run all day but they'll give us the run around if he isn't quite up to scratch.

I'd keep the defence the same simply because we havebn't got any scope for improvement. I would've liked to see Wallace at left back but McEveley has done enough lately to warrant his place. If he struggled with Lamerias at the Lane he's going to struggle 10x that with Ashley Young. And John Brayford will only have the £50mil rated Anthony Martial to deal with... No pressure.

The centre halves have to stay strong and follow any runners. If we concede early it's game over.

George keeps doing what he's been doing lately and he'll be fine. No funny business, just quick reactions and lots of commanding the area will do me.

They aren't invincible but this will be the toughest game of all the FA Cup and League Cup games we have played. They are a wounded animal on recent form and Van Gaal is a man under pressure. Keep them quiet while half time and you know what? We might just stand a chance. They'll panic and we might just get a chance or two.

Jeez, when you put it like that we've got a mountain to climb, I was beginning to think we've got a chance as they are underperfoming big time.

There's only 11 of them though isn't there, keep the faith!

I'm a lot more interested in the Wigan game, midweek, and what sort of performance we are going to put in after that against Colchester.

Got a feeling it will be a draw,if so,will be interesting to see what allocation the mancs are allowed, given the inevitable high demand for tickets

Keep it tight, gerrit int corner, and nick one

Hmm, wrong Nigel ...................

If we concede two early I can't see us coming back, but you never know. If we fall a single goal behind we won't be out of it.

We really have nothing to lose in this game, so it may be worth a gamble or two - ie put out a team that Man U may not be expecting. The problem is, we're in short supply of "trump cards". A fit Adams might cause problems, but if he plays like he did on Saturday I'd prefer to see Done start. Dunno if we can afford to give a start to JCR.

I'm sure the FA have had a quiet word in Mr Mariners ear just to make sure there won't be any errors in the result.

1-0 sharp

That boy billy he's better than Roo

You'd have thought so. Forget the league, I've heard a good performance against Man Utd earns us a promotion.

Absolutely Barney! We may get up to £1 million of the gate receipts isn't it 40% plus any TV money. Won't this help the club out? Of course I can already predict your answer.........;)

You don't. You get as tanked up as possible and hope Martial vs. Collins doesn't look too bad.

Go on then.

It could be along the lines of 'it would never see the light of day and be straight in McCabes bank account just like the Murphy money' or maybe even 'if it was to go towards the team NA would not know what to do with it and certainly wouldn't spend it wisely'.........

What's all this nonsense about winning the game.
Surely the dream result is a 0-0 draw so that we can make even more money and buy that centre half we have been waiting two years for.
A 1-7-3-0 formation is on the cards with the 3 being defensive midfielders - strict instructions not to cross the half-way line.
Shame that Alcock was let go - we could have done with the extra defender for the game.
Park the bus - get it right and then we also get the added bonus of watching Mourinho in the dug out for the replay.

Go there with nothing to fear and set the tone with a proper old fashioned crunching tackle to fire up the rest of the team and gets the fans going...you'll see if Man U are up for it as well then or if they shy away from an 'in your face' type challenge.

Remember, last season they nearly lost at Cambridge United!!! :)

Its games like tomorrows that give us the chance to enhance our status as cup tarts
we can have been a bag of shite , but cup games , the pressure goes and we play with freedom
JCR s best game for us was undoubtedly ay QPR
who is going to be our ace in the hole at old triffid

and if we dont concede 7 weve bettered the snort beasts cup exploits in manchester

Stop thinking so hard. McEveley will give away two pens in the first few minutes with a clumsy hand ball and then a lunatic challenge earning a red card. Game over.
Just been watching 'Countdown to kick off' on MUTV they were showing Manuer training today and and featured Rooney practicing 'how to win a penalty' 'the art of diving' everyone in the studio were laughing, but just shows the cynical side of the premier league and Premier league players - let's hope the ref is strong!
