How big can we make Bramall lane?

With Bramhall Lane not having acres of space to build on, what could we realistically build it to if money were no object and us being a regular prem team fighting for Europe.

Could we make it any bigger than this?

:(

This isn't a dig at the OP but why do away fans in particular have such a problem spelling 'Bramall' correctly?
It's not that hard surely, I don't refer to White 'Heart' Lane or Old 'Traford'. I just don't get the problem, surely they see it often enough mentioned in the media to see how it's spelt?

Considering the amount of our fans who can't spell the names of our own players, I'm surprised you're surprised.

Michael Tongue, Roger Nilsson/Neilsen, Kevin Macdonald, etc

at the moment it is adequate for our needs , but in 3 years time when we return to the prem will probably need to expand but a new 2 tier kop and second tier on the south stand will suffice 45000 should see us till we qualify for the champions league , so no rush

The biggest that the lane should ever be is 45000. It's not lacking ambition, but it's to ensure that we stay at the lane.

We could double tier the south stand, we could surely make the bramall lane end a bigger stand by building over bramall lane, and extending over the road making a huge stand with a road tunnel underneath.

The Kop can be rebuilt, put in a steeper stand and extend further back. Two things though- keep it as a single tier and put on a cantilever roof.

This is all fantasy and we won't need until we've done at least 5 years in the champions league

was watching football on spanish tv yesterday and Atletico Madrid are starting to builkd a new 70000 seat staium , to go with their status as cl finalists and la liga champions

some fans are a bit miffed as its on the outskirts, to save money and theres not the transport and its working class fans will go from living near the stadium to being commuters #

The ground could be anything you want it to be if money is truely no issue.

Shoreham has loads of room behind it as does the south stand, John street could go back if the houses were purchased and Bramall Lane stand could go over the road.
But why would we? We're struggling to get 20,000 at the moment.

Building over Bramall Lane, after the Kop and South Stand, would depend a lot on the council's plans to widen the road (which is why so much space has been left by the side of the road at St Mary's Gate end). If it coincided nicely with an expansion it would work well. Ideally the Supertram would get extended down Bramall Lane also to go south, but this is all pipe dreams.

There's a problem with knocking down houses; people live in them and they might not wish to move. There's bags of space behind the Shoreham end though. An enormous stand could be built there which would be big enough for everyone, I'd have thought.

One thing for sure though. SUFC should never do a Bolton, Coventry or Brighton and move out of town. It's the city centre location and the shops and caffs on London Road that make the Lane special. Apart from Newcastle I can't think of another football ground so beautifully situated.

Get your mates to get a pic of you stood next to it with your trousers and underpants round your ankles see if that helps
