Looks like Hecky’s considering giving him a contract and Conor has said he would like to stay if poss so…

We absolutely do not need this type of player in our CM.

I’m in the brick shithouse required camp.

UTB

Depends on who else is staying, he improved a lot and started running more after we changed manager but we need more athletic options to pick from than him, Norwood and Fleck

Our aging unathletic CM got schooled at the Den by an ugly basic side.
We need a younger version who can tackle without commiting bookable fouls every time.
Who can carry the ball a bit .
Who can win a header.
Who can pass & move.
Who can put a shot under the bar.
Something like what Berge was moving towards recently.
Not Hourihane as he drifts towards retirement.

Hourihane fleck and Norwood too similar for me,

Fleck hasn’t got the legs to be the spoiler we need in there to win the ball to pass to Norwood/Berge/Ndaiye

Especially if we do go up and will need to break up wave after wave through the midfield where teams will have 70% possession against us

Kelvin Phillips type, win the ball (bit of a nasty cunt if needs to be) then passes to the more flair players

Know James Milner is about 85 years old, but still looks fitter than half our lot - if he fancies a year with more game time

Improved recently but won’t cut it at a higher level. Has a decision got to be made imminently ?

High wages. 31. on the downslope of his career. He'd want 2 years

Huge no from me.

We need to bring in younger players. Norwood and Fleck are both 30. Berge will likely go. Osborn may or may not stay. It doesn't seem as though any of the kids are likely to break through in midfield.

Coulibaly won't meet the criteria to get a WP in the summer when Beerschot get relegated I don't think

I think Hecky said he's OK, provided he doesn't register with them for next season.

I can't see him being up to that much to be honest. I'd take Hourihane if the terms are OK.

I'd say yes as long as we don't plan on using him much and its not instead of a decent signing. Think he would add some useful experience and be a strong backup. Thinking along the lines of Jags when we got promoted.

Depends on who we keep/lose and what division we’re in. If it’s the Championship he’s a decent option alongside a big fucker and as a standby for Norwood. Low-ish wages and a 2 year deal.

I'd say yes if still in the championship but only if he's not the only midfield permanent signing.

If we can only sign one midfielder permanently during the off season due to wages then prefer it was someone else.

I like Hourihane but expected more from him this season.
We need someone with a better, more all round game to give us a bit more spunk in the middle. If he’s cheap enough wage wise then I’d keep him as a squad player

Aye
I hear Declan Rice is looking for a move in the summer

His goalscoring and assisting have fallen off a cliff from what we achieved at previous clubs. We have too little end product coming from our midfield 3 as it is. On the assumption Norwood is going nowhere, I would not keep him.

We seem to have drifted back into the Clough/Adkins days of midfielders that don't do enough to create or score goals. Let's try and get someone who does those things.

We’re desperately short in midfield of an all action scruff of the neck midfielder there’s nobody to act as leader or even protagonist or fighter although our last one was probably Michael Doyle lol

There's always room for experience in midfield, but not an entire midfield of 30 somethings. We needed an overhaul in that department 2 years ago and nothing has changed other than they're 2 years older.

It changes based on your circumstances

When he returns to us though technically he will still be a top flight player won’t he even if he had just been relegated? the problem we had with the guy from Parma was that he had played a game for them the following relegation to serie B

I thought it was as soon as the new season starts, regardless of games.

Not 100% sure either way though

But I've always thought he was a United player in name only anyway. As in we provided the funds to buy him and when he's sold we'd get our miney back and the profit would go into United World operating costs.

3 year loan? A ridiculous agreement. Why not 1 year, get WP points and then review and extend, bring back or sell? We aren't Man City ffs
