Honking

All this parachute payment stuff really shows how ignorant and cliched people are. We bought Moore, Burrows and Cooper with the money from the sales of Bogle, Traore, Trusty and Osula, with money still left in the pot as profit. All the other players were free agents and loans. "But what about the wages?" Yes, the wages. We sold/released a lot of players and those that remained all had relegation clauses in their contracts lowering their wages. We reduced our wage bill and freed up money with all the players sold/released and absorbed some of the profit from player sales too.

Funded by parachute payments?

Not entirely. Do your homework people, do your homework.

How Bannan must be regretting his honking belittling of Brewster. What goes around comes around. I also felt Röhl played into Wilder’s hands by his prematch interviews. The chat about parachutes etc was bound to fire up Wilder and we know he performs best when the fire is burning inside him.
Sums up the difference in the two sets of fans, players etc

They would be morally outraged we use it as fuel

That's what winners do

Don't forget Archer...

It’s beautiful poetic justice AGAIN. They never learn that lot.

Bannan calls Brewster absolutely honking and he’s the one who gives the ball away that leads to Brewster scoring the winning goal in an away derby to achieve a derby double and go level with Leeds at the top of the table and all but ending their hopes of playoffs.

I can’t understate how fucking happy that makes me feel.

I didn't include Archer as we basically got our money back. It was an odd deal that one.
We did, but we had the initial outlay then re-couped the money a year later as the accounts will show. A bit like we did with Bogle, and Trusty and Traore over the same timescale as Archer.

I don't remember them complaining 8/9 years ago about it being financially unfair when they were spaffing millions around on the likes of Jordan Rhodes and the rest.

They were too busy lording on Football Heaven back then

What did he say or a link?

After Pigs got promoted from league 1 play off final the players were celebrating and Bannan gobbed off saying “Rhian Brewster you are honking , son?”

They have very selective memories on this. They did the equivalent of Loadsamoney waving his wad at the audience, crowing about the money they were spending on “household names”.

I don’t do mainstream social media but my son tells me Mrs Bannon had a somewhat controversial social media account she used to ridicule our club/players. Apparently she made the account private yesterday. Wonder how it feels showing her face on school run or supermarket shop today?

When will people learn about social media, they had (I think) 3 fans with full bans, job losses, criminal records etc after irresponsible posts about deaths of fans, death of George etc.

Hope in the distant future if we every lose to them our fans will act more responsible.

The demise of their club and the rise of ours to dominate them must be hard to take as a fans but apart from social media the scenes of verbal abuse and life/limb threatening explosives being used at and on players/staff Shirley wants some FA and or police intervention.

Two years ago then. In city rivalries best just to be respectful and that's it.

We were "forever in their shadow" back then. I think they kept replaying that line on Football Heaven as well LOL

As Wilder said, the difference is that we earnt it. We funded our L1 promotion team with the sale of DCL. We funded our next two transfer windows with the sale of Brooks. When we got promoted we had a bottom half Championship budget. We won promotion without parachute payments. We won promotion because we invested in our academy and made smart signings that didn't break the bank.

The pigs on the other hand threw tens of millions at ageing players on 40k a week and had nothing to show for it. There was never any forward planning and look at them now - an ageing squad, no saleable assets, no money, no hope.

That little turn and ball from Sydie Peck though………⚔️

Who can forget after the first game against Plymouth they were already champions…………..👀🤣🐷

It will be interesting to see how we fund our next journey into the PL.

However we fund it, the sad fact of life in football and the Premier League these days will probably mean that it simply won't be enough
I'm in no way suggesting we should be able to go up and compete with the big dogs but look at the table now. The bottom 3 are all the teams that went up and they're pretty much all but relegated already. I had a glance yesterday after the Man U game and am I right in thinking Wolves are clear by 9 points? The chances of any of those teams racking up 9 points and the ones above dropping them isn't even worth considering. The league is fucked.

The game at the top level is gone. The only point in going up is to widen the financial gap between ourselves and the rest for the EFL teams when we come back down.

Daft little clubs like Bournemouth, who won the jackpot by having a Russian Oligarch buy them because it was near the local yacht club, are now pretty much assured of Premiership status for ever more as they were in there at the right time when the mega bucks TV money rolled in. The rest of us, in places that care about football, are just in the outside looking in.

Singing about wilders daughter makes me cringe they are the lowest of the low fucking scrubbers
Did we not sing yesterday about Bazzas Mrs being a slag and the same about Karen Brady some years ago when pesky was at Birmingham. I think it comes with the territory.

Wonder how much the grunty piggy little bastards would pay to actually become relevant to 3 generations of fans of the big 6 EPL clubs.

No fan of Man U, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool under the age of 30 even knows that they exist, and they know about Barnsley, Huddersfield, Bradford even Swindon fucking Town they've all had their PL season this century

FFS.

In theory could like more than just Bournemouth too, with right time, right place "vision" - I would easily add Fulham, Man City, Chelsea, Leicester and Brentford to that list. When you look at Fulham & Chelsea (Brentford around the corner) you can see why investment would go there. Man City were in the shadows of North West football again another "cheap" investment project. The major stand out is Leicester with the Thai Billionaire again a random investment however one that with naming rights on the stadium (king power) and playing on the highest stage it is incredible for advertising. When you look at our advertising we didn't get a 1st team shirt sponsor until Mid October 2024 which is pretty poor as we were already 11 fixtures into the season by that point. I know cryptocurrency is supposed to be the next thing but 1) If you saw that logo/name, would you know what the product was. 2) How many fans are going to be investing in crypto on the back of seeing the logo

To compete we need to think about what we want as a fan base, quite a lot of us understandably want the heritage of Sheff United and the Premier League but that isn't fashionable anymore and not a sustainable business model to have both. We need to change the perception of a "working class Northern club", I don't like the idea of stadium naming rights unless it brings in £100millions. Although on the flip side using Twickenham Rugby stadium as a recent example it would be interesting to know how many people call that the Allianz Stadium rather than Twickenham (or "Twickers" with your pinky finger out) I know if BDTBL was changed to the Allianz Stadium, Sheffield - I would still call it Bramall Lane to my mates.
