Moore: pretty decent 7/10

Back Three: Absolute bomb scare, especially Basham, need Wright back sharpish.

Wing Backs: Lafferty average going forward, average defensively; a very average player. Freeman looked as though he'd spent the afternoon getting Baxtered, no touch, no defending, hit the man directly in front of him EVERY time.

Midfield: Utterly Abysmal. Nothing more to say.

Forwards: Toothless for the most part, absolute brain fade for the rest. Take Billy off pens, and you can't expect to punch it in and run off to the corner flag hoping nobody notices.

Plan B needed.

It wasn't nearly as bad as you suggest, but it is definitely too predictable against teams who park the bus.

Plan B needed (to be mixed up with plan A), without doubt. The rest is far too negative a synopsis.

Duffy MOM by a wide margin.

Couttsy was very poor tonight - more the backwards/sideways Coutts of last season.

In saying that, he's been excellent for a long while so he gets a free pass, I'd say. Just that we need him being more positive & cocky & spraying the ball about, like he has been. We weren't buzzing in midfield.

Fleck's standards have dropped a bit too, the last two home games.

Duffy was slightly better than the other two but did nothing to warrant any praise, IMO.

They all got a job done on them in the second half and did nothing about it. It can't all come down tithe manager, they have got to take some responsibility and on ronights showing, not a brain cell between them.

Sounds like Walsall did to us what we used to do to teams when Clough got us on that run

I don't think it was that bad at all. Any other day and we'd at least draw that game, they only created one chance really and that was one of the softest goals I've seen us concede.

Duffy was excellent tonight. His 45 yard through diagonal through ball to sharp being the thingy a la resistance

We ended up not fizzing the ball around the middle might have had something to do with it turning into 4 forwards all marked and a bank of Walsall players in front of the man on the ball.

Early doors we were trying to draw them out to create space, later, they weren't budging.

It wasn't that bad.

Sharp and Clarke playing together wreck the rest of the team. We just constantly try the same obvious crosses. Bring back Done, or try Lavery/Chapman next to Sharp. Gives us more mobility and the ability to pull defences out of position to create chances.

I do believe one or two players may be suffering from a touch of complacency and need a good boot up the arse as well.

Sorry Pinchy.

But one of the key reasons why Fleck and Coutts have been less effective is that the out ball option of Done has been replaced by the utterly ineffective Clarke.

Though I don't fully agree with your analysis of Clarke, I totally agree that we miss the movement of Done, especially against teams that setup so defensively,

Is Duffy counted in your 'utterly abysmal'? Think that's very harsh on the midfield.

I thought Duffy was very good tonight. Couldn't cross his legs, like, but very good generally.

It's a shame for Coutts and Fleck that they have to go so far back so the defenders can play a nice short pass to them and let them take all responsibility for the ball going forward.
