As some have commented, the poor playing surface at Coventry was possibly a factor in United's below-par performance last night; the other possible factors have understandably received more attention. There was a huge difference in the performance between the Swindon match on Saturday, and last night's gritty victory. The current squad need to play the ball on the ground, and at home on the Desso pitch have been playing some really good football; they clearly struggled with their passing, control, and running with the ball last night. There is no point playing hoof-ball with our small squad. How many poor surfaces await us between now and May? If I was an opposing manager, I would have the pitch ploughed up before playing the Blades.
