Whilst trying to tie in a date for a press photograph I have of Alan Hodgkinson, I came across this picture of Film Star Jayne Mansfield attending a match at White Hart Lane in 1959.

My question is 'have we ever had any bona-fide Hollywood A-Listers ever attend a game at BDTBL, (I'm not including our Sean in that).

None spring to mind although I'm only back as far as I can remember (circa 1971). Anyone?

Kell Brook? Or are we vito'ing Blades fans in this?

Not that I can think of but for some young Blades fans perhaps...a funny moment when we played Villa in ‘91 at home (2-1 to us I think) and my Dad (Exceptionally tight Yorkshireman) had taken leave of his senses and paid to be the match day sponsor. I’ll never forget it I was 12....scored my 2nd pen in top right corner Kop end with all the amazing fans cheering (I fucked up the first one!)....anyway as we are leaving ground via players entrance all the young lads are screaming for autographs and my Uncle John (fecking terrible at football) nonchalantly waltzes over and starts signing all the autographs and you could hear the young lads saying wow, brilliant...who was that??

I’m guessing here, but I think that 99% of our fans will have another specific memory from that match.

Bruce Springsteen once played at the Lane, does that count?

Paul Wood's sister was called Holly. Therefore we had Holly Wood a sister. Close enough?

I was working at Treeton pit on Afternoon shift that day. We could hear him when came out of the pit at shift end. How far would that be from the Lane ?

Not a single disapproving wife or girlfriend to be seen.

Back in the day when fans were gents, I bet there wasn't a chorus of "get ya tits out for the lads"

Is he one of us or a grunter?

And, while we're on it, has anyone got GCB as a ringtone for the Nokia 6620?

pommpey

No he's a blade. Kind of.

You must be unusual in being a Sheffield United fan who watches Wednesday too?
Well, I’ve lived in London for 35 years and I do follow the fortunes of both. It’s more a token of feelings for the city where I grew up. Sheffield people will say to me: “You’ll say ‘up the Blades’ then you’ll say you’re a Wednesday fan, what’s going on?” United were the club I supported when I was growing up, mainly because their ground was the nearest to our house. I used to see Wednesday supporters as a different type of person, just... deeply disturbed. But then I was always excited when either club was involved in a big game and Wednesday tended to be involved in bigger games. When I first came to London, it was 1966 and Wednesday were in the Cup final, so I couldn’t say I wasn’t interested because they were from my city. Eric Idle was a big Chelsea fan and I used to go there to see either Sheffield team play. I found myself being sucked in as a sort of associate Wednesday fan, though I would have been disemboweled in Sheffield if they’d known that.

Also Mick Foley ????? WWE ????? Sharps mate, clutching at straws a bit.
