Hogan made loads of runs and several times Norwood had the option of playing him through but chose not too.

I was in line with the penalty area South Stand side and Hogan seemed to be near-permanently offside in most of those situations. Had McGoldrick gone for Hogan on the move for the 2nd goal, it would have likely been offside. I think in a number of situations the player with the ball could see this and instead went for an onside player.

He always gets the face on when he doesn't get the pass he's demanded, and takes a few seconds to have his little hissy fit instead of re-positioning himself.

He isn’t there to win headers for me. Not a dig, but the next time he plays watch him, he’s always on the last defenders shoulder waiting for the pass through. If we picked that pass, he would score quite a few goals for us but we don’t play like that, it’s always out to the wings and build like that.

He’s not really suited to our system to be fair. You can see he has all the right tools to be decent and to get goals at our level, but we slow the play down when we get into the final third. We play to the sides, we move it about and we try to work a chance in the box. Hogan, from what I can see, needs quick service - in the channels - through balls, putting him one on one with the keeper. He’s perfect if you’re looking to counter attack and have someone that can thread a ball through. We don’t play like that though.

Think he gets better every game. I thought for the first time today he put a real shift in and pressed and closed down - which was needed as Duffy and McGoldrick were both spent and couldn't do it after 70 mins. As ever in football making runs isn't neccessarily about getting the ball - it's about making space for others.

Love him as a player and sorry he's not had more opportunities. I was expecting him to start up front with Madine yesterday with McG in behind.

I thought he looked keen and sharp when he came on although he looks like he'd thrive on quicker balls into him and to chase on to.

I still think he has a couple more goals in him this season especially with Sharp out - hopefully his next one will come on Mon

But Hogan. I'm not sure what he did today. He didn't win a single header as far as I can tell, he wasn't quick enough and didn't press. I know we're without Sharp so have limited options, but really, what did he bring?

The 5ft 10 bloke didn’t win any headers against the 6ft 3 centre halves. SHOCK.

His movement is exceptional, he’s constantly on the move wanting to run in behind the defence, we just never play the ball through to him.

Madine was very good. He usually is. He’s an excellent centre-forward. He doesn’t ask the other players to play long ball. It isn’t necessary.

I was hoping for Hogan and McGoldrick starting with Duffy I’m behind. We then have Madine to change it and Dowell to replace Didsy or Duffy. Hogan is very fast, he bends his runs and he thinks faster than anyone we have, and that includes Duffy and McGoldrick. If he got more minutes and the understanding between McGoldrick, Duffy and him was to evolve we would have a ‘reight player’ on our hands!

Totally agree with comments about him needing a ball early in behind the defenders , he made several runs in behind only for the ball to go sideways as said earlier I think it’s been that long since we had that type of option that we’ve forgot how to utilise it
.Ironically first half we were working the channels and getting balls into the box I think if he’d been on first half he’d have had some joy .
He played well against Reading and that was his first start in a long time after injury , if were gonna need him as looks like we will with injuries we gotta play to his strengths

Absolutely correct. So why do we? Given the default position of Hendersons distribution yesterday one can only deduce its on management instruction otherwise it would have been stopped PDQ.

Hogan and Baldock are the only players with any real pace, with Hogan being the quicker of the two.

As has been said, we just aren't used to that, and we need to play to his strengths. I would assume this means a lot of work on the training ground?

Anyway, he is a great option to have.
