History repeating itself

Not entirely comparable but in the mid-80s we needed to win our final game and hope that Hull didn't win away at Burnley by more than two goals. We won our game, then Hull won theirs 2-0 so we were promoted by a single goal.

We had exactly the same goal difference as Hull but went up on scoring more goals. I remember that night too, wasnt there but saw they were 2 nil up after 39 minutes but the 3rd goal never came. :)
