highest wages in league one

Highest wage budget in League One, but Adkins could only obtain a mid table finish. That evidences what a terrible job Adkins did and what a horrendous manager he is. He didn't even manage to get his facts right, when he stated that our budget was the fifth or sixth highest in the division, or even worse he may have said that knowing it to be untrue.
He managed to waste valuable club funds as he assembled an absolute shower of shit.
The man is a total fraud who waffles inane positivity and spews out stupid statements with alarming frequency. I feel sorry for the fans of his next club who are going to have to suffer this man, until the penny drops with their board and they realise what they have got and get rid.

Let's stay calm here. I don't want any chairman coming on here reading stuff like this. He was very unlucky, as were Hammond and Woolford. Their new clubs are going to be lucky to have them...

Except we had 42 professionals not 20. The problem was not the average wage but the numbers. Adkins could not be blamed for that.

But that includes children from the under 5s.

God knows what proportion was eaten up by Adkins's imports*.

The evidence against the clownish Adkins just gets stacked higher & higher.

* No slight on Billy: he's been worth every penny.

Exactly, people think the entire wage budget or even half went on 6 players.

A bloke on another thread last week said "he was told" that those 4 players cost us £10.5 million!

Have to say I'm surprised we're the highest though.

What a monumental waste of cash.

I'd love to know what Clough's shit cost and what the shit Adkins added cost.

Anyone got a link to wages tables? Would love to know how much wigans, burton, coventry, millwall, barsnley etc was at.

I find 10million hard to believe and I would expect that the loan signings such as Hammond that their wages were partly paid by their parent club.

I also would guess the amount of Clough's player signings amassed in signing on fees and wages was far from cheap.

Yes you're right it was bollocks.

O f course I'm not trying to say only 20 players earned all the money it's an example of probable average wage. And as others have pointed out a lot of the crud(earners) was left by Clough so blaming Adkins entirely should be excluded. Additionally talking about Adkins lying, why would he do that? If it was against McCabe's wishes he would've been given short shrift straight away ( see Clough/Blackwell).

Really not surprising. It was so clear what Adkins was about from very early on. This is just one more piece of evidence on top of the many others.

A very, very poor manager that has been found out. If he finds work, I empathise with every club he'll continue to bullshit and fail miserably at as he drops like a stone down the leagues.

No wonder the Prince and McCabe were unhappy about the return on that level of investment, but it does serve to demonstrate that you do at least need to know what you are doing and that money alone cannot buy you promotion. A gobsmacking amount for so little return. Higdon alone was probably into us for £400k a year. Let's hope the club finally sorts the scouting and transfer division out now and they find out what due diligence really means. It is well overdue.

I love the idea that the 5 players Adkins got in, mainly on loan, are responsible for the entire waste in our 43 man wagebill.

A quick down the released / transfer list clearly shows where the main problem lies. But let's not let the facts get in the way of some good emotional outburts.

UTB

Some on here will continue to say that the Board do not back their managers and should have thrown more money at the problems last JTW and in the loan windows.

Stupid money for this league has been spent by Clough and Adkins, in no way shape or form can the co-owners be blamed unless you were one who knew that the last two managers appointed were incapable of doing the simple job at hand i.e. gaining promotion with a squad paid three times the average wage bill for the division.

Who would have thought our managers would not be big enough to f*** up? Certainly not me.

Never mind the revolving arguments about selling Maguire and Murphy. All the tools were there to do the job and more.

of course your surprised
every time I told you we paid the most you called me a liar didnt you

well you know everything dont you,,,

What people hopefully will take from this is the board do actually fund the team

the fact they keep employing the wrong managers , is their only mistake

but their hearts in the right place

I'm astounded that people keep looking at one or two facts in isolation. £6m wage bill, it's all Adkins fault, I could go through the squad, list each of the players and who signed them. It would then be an interesting exercise to guesstimate which manager had cost us the most last year. I won't because the first smart arse up would say the figures are guesses and people believe want they want to believe and disregard the facts.

of course Adkins inherited a lot of it
but surely management is the key word in this
hes supposed to oust the costly ones and bring in some semblance of value for money players
not persist with over paid under achievers
and no matter how long contracts are you can always get shot either on loan or give away

I thought the wage bill was around £9million?
At least that's what the accounts stated...maybe £6 million is players alone Snd the other £3million staff!?!?

We do employ a lot more people now than a few year back..

Perhaps Sean Thornton can shed sone light on this article..?

How can any manager oust an over paid contracted player who isn't performing? He can't just sack them.

It's far easier to get rid of your good players than your shite!
