Putting my beard covered neck on the line I would have sooner seen Higdon given a chance of the "big man up top" in the present formation instead of Sammon and spent his wages on another cb or keeper. He has had a full pre-season this year which he never had last year and a couple of times last year he looked like he would be a nightmare to play against and capable of scoring . Notably MK away - when he did score and Spurs at home. I know it was very little he offered a lot of the time but he also had a real physical presence which after Saturday we sadly lacked !

Ignore the doubters, I totally agree

Disagree for someone so big and bulky Higdon really lacked physical presence last season.
I remember many games last season Higdon being knocked off the ball very easily. However in one game where he did try to assert himself at home to Swindon when ever Higdon did challenge for the ball their players fell down and the ref gave them a free-kick every single time.

In fact I have a theory that Higdon has a twin brother.

It's the twin brother who's playing for us and the real Higdon who played in the Dutch League had a break last season backpacking around Asia. At least that would explain why Higdon looks like a parks league player

I also agree! Started another thread bout this the other day (Sharp/Higdon combo), but got no replies!! Not necessarily saying I would send Sammon back, as we need options and without him would only have Higdon to play that role, but I personally think Higdon has more goals in him than Sammon. I think he'd do well linking up with Sharp.

Didn't play Satdi.

Didn't play tonight.

Wall the is on writing The.

NGE. Simple.

Sammon will chase the defence down and cause them to make errors. Higdon won't. Huge difference. I think Higdon will be used as a sub and he will get a few goals.
Agreed Sammon is more mobile - but really don't think we saw the best of Higdon last season. I would like to see him given a chance - if he could notch 15 goals in a season which looks possible given his overall goalscoring record, then I don't want him benchmarking all the time. Just don't feel that Sammon has goals in him really. Appreciate he is a nuisance to defenders though - if our other strikers start to score regularly then I suppose it's not as much of an issue.

Higdon is an impact player who's legs have gone, last 15 minutes is pushing it.

Not seen Sammon yet so can't comment on him

I totally agree, sammon may be a bit faster but that's what you have sharp and done for.. Personally Higdon is stronger than sammon and we need the physical presence that Higdon brings.. Of the back of a pre-season we could see Higdon start more.. I would prefer this ...

Totally disagree with all the negatives on here about Sammon.
He has found his true level in this league and will prove to be major factor in getting us out of this league.
Brings a lot more to the table than Higdon.
Physical pressence! the guys a steamroller.
Higdon hides too much for me

He was given a chance the other night wasn't he?
How'd he get on...didn't go mesen...

From what I've seen I'd choose Sammon over Higdon any day of the week. Sammon offers so much more than just the 'big guy' role he plays. He hassles defenders, his play and movement is quite clever if you watch him closely and despite THAT miss, he will get goals this season I'm sure. Something I was never confident in Higdon doing.

I cant put my finger on it but things just havent worked out for Higdon here.
I hated it when the boo boys had a pop last season but it just dosent happen for him.

As I said on another post, some players need a run in the side to get form. Higdon was shocking against Fulham. But he does at least look like a footballer this season and not a sumo wrestler.

I'll tell you why it hasn't happened for Higdon:

He's fat, slow, can't jump and just doesn't seem to want to play for the club.
He's shit.

Sharp is not fast.

Approaching a new season with ambitions of promotion Adkins could not rely on Higdon's fitness to feature regularly. I agree Higdon has a lot to offer but only if he gets fully match fit and that in itself might never happen.

Difference between Higdon and Sammon is that one has scored plenty of goals in his career. On the other hand the other has played at higher levels.

I think if you played against him you would be surprised how quick he is. First 5 yards he struggles but once he gets going he is quick.....granted not lightening like Done.

Like Edwards , the first 3 yards are in his head . Intelligent player as he now should be.

Adkins may well see something in Higdon . His he a model professional - i don't know.

But then who would we sing 'feed the fish' to when Sammon is benched?

Purely for the sake of the song, Sammon must play!

Higdon undoubtably knows where the net is, but I've been stunned by his lack of mobility. It speaks volumes about the Scottish Premier league.

Sammon is extremely athletic, as well as strong, the man really does have a very good build, and he has more dimensions to his game than simply knocking defenders about.

He's better than Higdon at football from everything I've seen. How is this even a thing.
