His track record suggests he can score goals in a certain setup. Not ours though.

Everything about Porters track record just confirms that he can't.

Neither standpoint seems to make much difference to where we are now. I think we'd both agree that neither are the answer and that Clough has made 2 mistakes here.

I put in my first post neither are the answer so I can hardly disagree with you even if I wanted to!

Utter lack of effort in just about every appearance I have seen with the exception of the Bristol City game where to be fair he started well enough. When I watched him against Crawley I was stunned at how bad he actually was. With the exception of his couple of goals against MK I haven't seen anything that tells me he can afford to loaf around getting the face on when things don't quite go his way.

Also if you can't get fit in the time he has been given there's a real problem somewhere.

The whole entire problem with Higdon, and to a less extent McNulty as well, is neither of them are particularly suited to the style of football we play.

Personally i think Clough should be looking at playing more often with 2 up front, and those 2 for me would be Higdon and McNulty, because what i have seen from both player, i think they would compliment each other well, and i think you would have 40 goals a season there already.

You've gave Higdon some stick on this thread but I guarantee if you create chances for he will put them away.
He's not a lone striker and doesn't fit in to Cloughs fear factor football.

I'm not happy with the chances of first team football that Higdon has had,when he's had as many as Porter,then,and only then,can we really compare them both as players for us.I think it's a tad unfair on Higdon to say that 'atm',but in time you could be proved right Bladesway .

Higdon can't play on his own as our midfielders hardly ever play close enough to him.The few times they have been close Higdon has looked ok.Last season Porter had our midfielders supporting him a lot more than our midfielders have done this season,and i honestly think that if Higdon played with our players last season,he'd have done a lot better than Porter imo.

What i will say his,while we have Porter here,we might aswell have used him on the bench because that's where he was most effective last year,so not only has Clough re-signed a mediocre player at best,he's not even used him to the best of his ability to assist our club.A really bamboozling decision from the one we apparently have to trust.

We will find out when the teams named,.but is he hinting at inexperience when he had a go at mcnulty yesterday,.to justify a more experienced player....
