Hi to all you Blades! I'm coming to Brammall Lane on Saturday and was just wondering what to expect? I believe we are selling our tickets fast and had to have more sent as we sold out our original allocation. What is your ground like/what is the atmosphere like? Both teams are having very different seasons so far, and both need a win for opposite reasons. I can't wait for Saturday to get here, as I've never been to BL before and all City games (especially away from home) at the moment are great occassions. Well, good luck for the season (except Saturday!!) and I'm sure you will finish mid-table ( aslong as you finish above Ipswich I'll be happy!). Look forward to any replies..

PS. Why weren't Norwich on the 'team you support' list when I registered?

Welcome NCFC lad!

I'll try to answer your questions

What to expect?
Well for a start the spelling of Bramall Lane will be different my web handed friend.
We're a friendly bunch really, but you can expect the ground to be less full than normal.
The ground is probably the best in the land, if not the world. Quite compact and in this modern world, the fans are fairly close to the pitch.
Watch the stewards in the Away end, they can be a little feisty.
Atmosphere not as good as it has been in recent years, but still should be good, listen out for the Nuddy song if we score, it'll be interesting if the club play it, we've asked them not to, but a 9 year old son of BIFF might have given it a reprieve.
You'll probably enjoy yourself in the away end, it's always good to see a decent away following, but all to infrequent nowadays.

Bramall Lane is a proper football ground. Trouble is there's not a proper team to play in it.

As an away fan, it's a shame you're not allowed in the top tier where the view is remarkable. Downstairs doesn't have the view but is perfectly serviceable. Just don't go annoying the stewards, especially those in lime green, as they're pretty brutal.

It's usually a good game against Norwich, even if you lot usually win, but we're desperate for a win and it'll be difficult for you if we get ahead and the crowd behind the team.

Enjoy, but not too much. ;)

Glass houses mate. Bramall is correct but it is ..too not to infrequent.

You can expect to see me probably swearing my way up the A17 on my way to Sheffield, what a bastard of a road that is, hitting the A1 feels like heaven!

Enjoy the day, but not too much, we need 3 points more than you lot :D

Can't remember the route off the top of my head but I went down the A! to the A13? and then north again it is about 30 miles further but easier on the nerves. Came back the other way in the dark, nightmare.

is that through Thetford A10 or A11(Hows life at KPS)

I went to Norwich and back yesterday, what a frustrating route that is, and there are loads of unmarked camera vans, watch out, just wish somebody had warned me!!!!

I cannot read, I cannot write but that doesn't really matter
Because I am a Norwich City fan and I can drive a tractor

:)

You can probably expect to go 2-0 up quite easily and then be suprised as we actually start playing in last 8 minutes to draw 2-2.

Oh and Im looking forward to avenging the joke reffing that cost us victory at your place despite dominating the game.

Apologies! This has now been amended.

As for Bramall Lane, it's a proper old fashioned football ground on the edge of the city centre. Parking can be a bit of a sod so it's worth getting in early if you're driving.

London Road which runs parallel to Bramall Lane is great for food. Lots of small Vietnamese places, kebab places, chinese etc.

Pubs you'll be struggling for near the ground but you've plenty of options in the City Centre. There's a Wetherspoons on Ecclesall Road and one near Barkers Pool. If you're on the train, there's the Sheffield Tap at the station, the Howard just across from the station and the Royal Standard on the way up to the ground which usually allow away fans in.

I hope you managed to get enough tickets to bring your wife & sister. Although TBF you would probably only need 1 more...

Wow, no sterotype left unturned eh?

Although I'm hoping the ref on Saturday is as much of a homer as the one at Carrow Rd. A couple of penalties start would be a big help.

Oreit owd mucker. Tha'll be reit on Sat-di. Dunt worry abart dese ideots on here, calling you a sheep shagger and all that. (Just getting him/her ready for the accent).

Logistics

Train station is very close to the ground and smack bang in Sheffield centre. If you are driving then park near the Radio Sheffield (or is it Hallam?) offices by the side of the student accomodation. I'd recommend going to London Road (near the ground - ask for directions - or try a map on google) for a few drinks before the game. We're a friendly bunch so don't worry about wearing colours. Don't be shy: have a drink and a chat with the home fans before the game. People are friendly and down to earth. Oh and expect some good real ale, with a head. Not that crappy, flat stuff you get down South!? ;)

Inside Beautiful Down Town Bramall Lane

The ground is the best in the Championship (in my partisan view - but shared by many others). Not sure about the stewards in the away end (as I've never sat there) but the away end is ok. You're close to the pitch, but it's the lower tier so you'll not have a brilliant view.

The atmosphere is unlikely to be great. Blades fans are a little fed up, despite being happy with Adams reviving us a little. We are a fickle bunch and if we take the lead then it will pick up. There's not a lot to sing about at the moment though. I suspect there'll be around 19k there and the stadium will look a little empty.

The game

We had a decent result last week (nil nil away to Coventry) but are lacking confidence. I suspect this could go either way and Adams will be looking to register a first win. On paper I would have had this as a home win. I'd be expecting us to beat a newly promoted team at home. However you have started well and are playing confidently and we have been awful. I actaully think you are in an inflated league position and will fall away (sorry). I think the play offs would be a massive achievement, but think you'll finish top half.

As for Saturday, we'll see. If Norwich score early then it is all over. If we keep it tight then it could go to us. You may punish us by attacking on the break and we are poor defensively. I gather the game at Carrow Road was quite close until the referee gifted you guys the game. This is set up for an interesting match. Certainly will not be a classic though. Don'y expect to see too much quality (at least from the home team).

Enjoy Sheffield and bad luck for Saturday!? ;)

Linz mentioned The Howard if you are travelling by train but a Villa mate of mine told me that it was trashed after the FA Cup match a couple of Saturday's ago.

It appears that the idiot fringe is coming back into football so be careful on your visit. The local Plod told my Villa mate, who was there with wife and kids, that the modern Hoolies don't stick to their own (like they did to a large extent in the 80's) but will pick on anyone with away colours. Seems to be creeping in without much media attention.

As for the match, I see Holt didn't get the penalties he dived for in the game against Cardiff. Probably situation normal this Saturday as the ex Pig will be launching himself onto the ground and deceive the ref into giving you at least two pens. No one will expect us to win at the weekend. We cannot pass water and our defense is as leaky as a BP oil well.

Cheers for the replies (well, most of them!). I went to Hillsborough a few years back, and the Wednesday fans were a decent bunch (bar a few), so hope you guys are simillar! On the Holt front, he is a very clever player. When he is against you, you love to hate him. He doesn't 'dive' as such, but if he know's he hasn't got a chance to beat a defender/take a shot, he will go down under any contact. He scored 30 last year in all comps, and no bad player can do that! This year he obviously hasn't been as prolific, but has scored a total of 12 with a hat-trick vs Ipswich and something like 6 goals in his last 7 games. I seem to remember a few 'heavy' challenges by your players at Carrow Road, plus a headbut on Russell Martin, and eventually leading to your player being sent off. So you can have no complaints about Holt! It should be a good game on Saturday, but hope it's 3 points coming back to Norfolk!

We can and will complain about Holt when his diving and general antagonising of our team unduly influenced the referee into making some truly bizarre decisions.

If the decision 30 seconds before the Holt swan death pike in our area was given and we'd had a penalty for Ched Evans being blatantly pulled back, we'd be talking about a completely different result.

That said, I've nothing against Norwich and would wish you well in every other game this season!

Haha, I guess we will never agree as we are defending our own team/players. Likewise to Sheffield Utd, nothing against them, and you have Ched Evans who I have admired since his loan at NCFC. (I'll always remember his 45 yarder at Cardiff for us!)

He kept trying that in his first season for us, most of them barely left the ground, some didn't even reach the 'Keeper!
