How good would it be to get some colour on the Kop to show our appreciation to the heroes and legends we are currently witnessing right before our eyes. They deserve it! That “We Believe” flag with Paddy Kenny, Morgan and Monty is depressing.

The atmosphere is nothing like it was under Warnock but that’s down to the football on show - I think everyone is in shock how good we are! Warnock was blood and thunder and that gets the crowd going. But maybe it could be approached differently?

Just idle curiosity Tom, but what size and/or cost did you have in mind?

I can't really remember, I think it was to the club's size specs on the ground rules or something but I can't remember pricing. It's not crazy money I don't think, just more than you could expect a handful of people to throw in for.

So the club states the size? A pity if so, as I was considering something at least twice the size of the one mocked up in the photo. At least it's then view-able by all parts of the ground. You'd just have to make sure that at the end of a game it was returned to whoever was responsible for it's ownership.

I think a bigger one may be negotiable but the rules are 2x1m I think according to this

"any flags or banners larger than those maximum dimensions permitted by the
Club from time to time (or, in the absence of such stipulations, 2 metres x 1
metre) and/or of an offensive nature;"

Other issues would be as you say, getting it back to the owner and storing it. I'm sure the Kop wouldn't mind passing it about for a bit before the game, or if it was on poles so you could see under it that'd be even better

But does it have a fire certificate? You’re not having any of my money unless it’s got a fire certificate!

The Billy Sharp promotion image will be around for generations - it may only be a third tier promotion but the picture says so much more. I’d much prefer that to the Che Guevara imagery that so many clubs have for their manager.

It's going to take someone with better organisation skills than me, but if someone narrowed it down to 3 choices, put them up as a poll, then asked everyone who voted to chuck a tenner in, it would be sorted and up by Christmas.

Count me in. Just a hundred putting a tenner is = £1k, easily enough to cover it. A coupla thoughts:

To resolve the 'bringing it in/getting it back to the owners' bit, make it a permanent fixture hung on the back of the kop and...

Think of it like a 'I love Tracy' tattoo. If/when CW finally departs, it'd be redundant. Surely better to be just words like 'Steel City Blades', 'You fill up my senses' or - totally different to my thoughts on CW - the 'Billy Sharp' image as suggested by JohnDenver. Sure he'll leave at some stage but his contribution will remain. CW will get a statue.

Who's . on here?
That guy is our unofficial merch wiz!
He's done a fantastic Fleck one recently.

I’d be more than willing to offer up any of my Shoreham St. Magnifique designs for use.

2m x 1m isn’t worth doing at all though - it’d be barely visible from the pitch.

Loopholes. It's all abarht loopholes. If the design is ...err... designed so that the banner comprises of 6 off 2m x 1m pieces that can be put together to make yer large banner. Any size really.

Then again yerd need a competent and responsible adult to supervise assembly.
Ah well, it wo just a thought.

When did this size restriction come into force. Weve had some belting huge flags over the last 20 years circulating above folks heads.

Any possibility of anything remotely decent naturally has to be snuffed out, because that's what football's about. So it's understandable that big flags aren't allowed.

I'm not so keen on the idea of 'worship' type flags now though, and I don't think Wilder would be either. I'd prefer one that isn't dedicated to any individual and can be used beyond their time at the club. Something referring to the legacy would be good, whatever that might be.

It would also be ideal to hang it up somewhere on the stand. Because if not, chances are we'd see it once or twice and that'd be it.

I agree. We need something that will endure beyond any individual but also a definitive statement of what we’re about. I’ll go with:

Kick it Long; Kick it Hard; Kick it High

Actually that would be quite funny; an ironic banner......good work!

How about a banner that goes all the way around the pitch "SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!FUCK'SSAKEHESHOULD'VESHOTHEWASONLY50YARDSOUT"

Seriously Tom, it shouldn't be difficult to choose an enduring, classic visual that everyone associates with the Blades.

No idea if you're savvy about these type of banners Tom, but the ones you see in Germany or Italy, are they made from a material that can still enable those passing it around to see the match action?
