Don't understand the extreme reaction tonight. We were awful against QPR but managed to score 2. Too many rose tinted specs after Tuesday. Bottom line is we have a mid table team who started like will Grigg. They can't do it for a full season and probably don't want to. They get us promoted and most of them will be transferred out. Not much of a motivator really. I don't care if we don't go up but I do care that I'm now watching crap football yet again.

Completely different performance than v qpr when we created quite a few chances and could have buried them.
Never looked like scoring tonight.

Only the 2nd time I've seen em like that since the current hull manager was unfortunately ours.
Wouldn't want to swap back ever

Ok poor performance tonight no argument.
But some of the comments about season being over etc are just embarrassing.
We played on Tuesday and thanks to Sky we were back out again in a tough atmosphere tonight.

An off night, but lets not swing from saying we are wonderful to saying we are total gash when we lose.

Perspective please - remember how far we have come.

Hull played Tuesday too. Tough atmsophere? It was half empty A few tennis balls and some whistles. Hardly Galatasaray.

Its not a swing from saying we were wonderful to gash.- we were utter gash tonight. It's not an OTT reaction at all. Players have had lot of plaudits this year for being great but tonight deserve a slating as they were shite. Worse than being shite, they did not even put much effort in.

That how far we have come thing is the kind of attitude that will see us mid table Champ for years to come and being happy with it. I really am not a fan of this stance.

How many threads have to be started saying how crap we were?

Yes we were poor, these things happen sometimes. We've seen it before, we will see it again.

It strikes me as a huge over reaction to laud players and manager one week and massively slag them off the next.

Anyway I seem to be in a minority of one - so knock yourselves out if it makes you feel better. Get it out of the system, then you can go back to praising them to the skies next time we play well and win.
Some thrive on it unfortunately ,never heard from them earlier in the season ,now its a willy waving contest to see who has the best insult. Tonight was poor but the shoutbox was ridiculous ,you cant debate the game for people slagging off individuals with relish ,no humour just downright hatred.

Couldn't agree more, really concerning and I just can't see why we're doing it. No coincidence the level of performance has deteriorated since all this long ball has started creeping in to our play.

It's because the midfield won't take responsibility for taking it off the defenders and moving it through the thirds - they don't have the confidence, probably because they have reached a limit. Wilders suggest as much in his post match interview.

Think it was the loss to Fulham at home where their no 8 showed what is needed to "run" a game properly for a top 6 side.

We'll actually never know now whether Coutts could have kept us ticking along.

UTB

Totally agree. We have become pededstrian and slow and quite predictable due to lack of penetrarion in the middle. if full backs are off the game and teams crowd Duffy out; we look devoid of ideas.

Nope, don’t agree. No clappers for that trash please.

Irrespective of how well we are doing this season, that performance was utter crap.

I could forgive Being beaten by a good side and us being blocked off from playing our usual game. However, that, was shit, and there’s no excuses especially given the opportunity that’s available with a play off position pretty much in our own hands and playing against one of the worst teams in the division this year.
You called it right as Wilder did. They were spineless and that's what hurts us as fans and Wilder the. Manager ,got to root it out now

Feel sorry for the fans that made the journey up there.
Despite the sub zero temperatures we backed the team loudly but the frustrations amongst us grew as the second half wore on. Plenty had left in disgust as the players came over. For all the brownie points the players have previously earned I found I couldn’t applaud them when they came over. I just hope they were as disappointed as the rest of us were

We were shite, end of. But shite in one game and one game only - and I'll go as far as to recognise that that's the worst I've seen us under Wilder.

But I stayed away from here after the final whistle last night and so far I've read:
  • Drop Basham
  • Drop O'Connell
  • Drop Stevens
  • Don't start Leonard, he's a waste of money
  • Don't bring Lundstram on, he's useless
  • Change the formation
  • Don't change the formation
  • Expect Wilder to leave in the summer
GERRUMAHT, GERRUMALLAHT!!

Christ, I know a football forum is all about opinions and last night was utterly, utterly disappointing but come on? Now its up to Wilder and Knill to get a reaction from the squad. Hull were very poor and we made them look decent...we looked out of sorts and never got going, there wasn't even an inkling of us playing in our usual way.

If it were up to me, I'd give them the weekend off now. Logic being that for the first time last night, we looked tired. We looked like the squad of largely League One players who had played a blinder all season, but for whom the fatigue had finally caught up with. Have a frank discussion, make them want to up their game, send them on a few days leave to recoup and then see if they come back hungry for the run-in.

P.s. the only thing worse than losing to Hull would be being from Hull.

Just to clarify, you've posted an opinion on a football forum saying that other people should not post their opinions on a football forum? ;)

I think we all agree, that is the worst performance under Chris Wilder's tenure. In fact, as fate would have it, it was an "Adkins-esque" performance against a Nigel Adkins team.

We were second best all over the pitch, gave the ball away, time and time again, endless hoofing up to nobody in particular, tried "keepy uppy" headers, back and forth, with their team, only to lose the ball.

There is no way to gloss over any of the above.

Not sure why Duffy was on the bench, but it's history now, nothing we can do about the result.

So a series of deliberately poor performances by the players is the problem?

I thought the post about Wilder clearly blaming the board in his interview was bad enough but....

All of this is true but we did have a really flat performance against Fleetwood last season, we did ok after that game so hopefully we can this season. I think Wilder was just despondent as a fan to see us capitulate in the way we did. To not win second ball after second ball and for midfield and defence to have such a poor game is not what we are used to. Words will be said at training tomorrow and motivation will take place I'm sure.
