Henri Camara retires

Had to check the season he played for us - 2009-10.

Must have been a forgettable season as I can barely remember any of it. We finished 8th and 5 points off the play-offs, but again I don't remember us being any good or ever challenging for promotion. Highlights were being 3-0 up against the Pigs at HT, before nearly throwing it away and then their last-day relegation at home to Palace.

Yer bastard Henri! You still owe us...there's an unpaid debt that hasn't been forgotten.

41? There have been players who managed well into their 40's...it was like a daytime raid on the local post office. You took above average wages and vanished without a trace...but to be honest you're one of many who came, pocketed, and left quietly. I'm man enough to wish you a happy retirement.

I thought he looked a decent player but was misused by the tactical football genius that was Kevin Blackwell.

Although he had a nice touch, pace and eye for goal it has to be said, he was no Jordan Stewart.....

It was flying visit, it was 4 or 5 months but i remember being quite impressed by him. As whenever he came on he looked a class above & capable of creating something. Admitally not difficult in that 09/10 team

Think he once scored a beauty against Plymouth at the Kop end.

My overriding memory of Camara though is him coming on as a substitute in one of those charity matches and scoring a brace. He looked like the best player on the pitch even though he was playing amongst Ronaldinho, Zidane and Buffon etc.

He was also on the bench for Wigan when we were relegated on the final day.

I liked Canara definitely think if we'd kept him we'd have been stronger up front the following season. Again I blame the manager not the player GLTTL

He stood out when he played, like Andy Reid and that winger from West Brom when we were in League 1

nah we finished the stronger after giving them false hope , and yes the palace game was fun

What a goal his second one on the video was, top class that one.

I remember being perplexed as to why Blackwell barely ever used him despite him looking class every time he did get on the pitch. It's obvious now looking back that it was because Blackwell was clueless.
