On what reasoning do you give this?

What he did for Derby last season?

And Wales.

And his general attitude... it's not so much that he didn't score goals, it was more his feckless lack of effort and general 'can't be bothered' demeanour, which coupled with the 'glug glug' rumours gave the impression of a player who's past his best, regardless of the rest of the team. You can't just say that the best player in the world would look bad in that team, because there were players who always made an effort - Jay McEvely and Tyrone Mears, when they played, always at least tried - but Earnshaw was unfit, unconcerned about playing, and frankly I doubt there's a single Derby fan who doesn't think it's one of the best pieces of business they've ever done in flogging him to their local rivals.

I don't doubt that he was very good when at West Brom, and more so at Norwich, but he's a player solely living on past glories. Maybe he'll surprise me next season, but I would say that Henderson is a much lower risk investment than him.

Look back to the season before Derby, 19 league goals I think it was.

I believe he will be in the top 5 scoring strikers this season (obviously if he is not blighted with injury)

I can't agree with you here at all Matt that Earnshaw is past it. But we will see how the season progresses.

That's the problem though - it was the season before. If he can get back to being the player he was, then that's great - but it's not always that easy, is it? Just ask Rob Hulse.

It will be interesting to see how it progresses, yeah - it's always nice to be able to have a difference of opinion and see how it pans out!

MATTHEW, you can't compare a serious career threatening leg break to playing in a poor team ;) haha

Earnshaws crap:D that's all I'm saying on the matter.

Earnshaws a quality player at this level, even if he does look like an alien.

True you cant argue with his goal record at championship level.

Rather have him than the cunt that is Henderson.

I wasnt keen on him, but he is a blade now so will get my support.

Calling him a c**t is stupid.

Id rather have henderson who is willing to graft than a player who does it when he's arsed.

He is a c**t though.

Ive always thought that and just coz he is now a blade wont change my view on him.

at the end of the day you dont know him personally, fair does his public personna may make him look like a div, but im sure others think that of morgan, im not going to jump on his back, as hes not even put a blades shirt on it yet

Well I have never liked him.

Like most people dont like Hendrie and still dont even though he is blade.

i dont like him bladesman. see my other posts about signing him. He's a blade now so he gets my support.

Really are some fickle people about!

Wigan striker David Cotterill is set to clinch a £1.5m move to Sheffield United. (News of the World)

Latest according to the NOTW, hope it has some truth in it!!

PS Loving the new site Foxy & Linz!:)

wigan have completed the signing of cattermole today so this may now be something that could go through

BBC Sport said:
Wigan have completed the capture of England Under-21 midfielder Lee Cattermole from Middlesbrough.
Cattermole has signed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee after passing a medical and Latics boss Steve Bruce has predicted a big future in the game.
"He's got everything going for him," said Bruce of the 20-year-old.
"He's young, he's courageous, he's a tireless worker and I think he can have a great career in football - hopefully for this club."
Wigan initially failed with a bid for the player but returned to make a successful offer, which is thought to be about £3.5m.
Bruce feels the club have got a bargain in the Stockton-born Cattermole, who emerged as a precocious teenager in January 2006 when he made his first senior start in a 2-2 derby draw at Newcastle.

Bruce added: "He only turned 20 in April and already he has played nearly 70 games in the Premier League, as well as in the Uefa Cup. That's exceptional. He can be a great leader of the future." Cattermole was used as a substitute in the Uefa Cup final in what was Steve McClaren's last game in charge in 2006, but struggled to establish himself in the team under McClaren's successor Gareth Southgate.
Southgate revealed last week that the club had received a tentative bid for Cattermole and has admitted he needs to sell before he can buy again.
Cattermole is a product of Middlesbrough's youth academy and has made 69 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
Wigan have been relatively busy in the transfer market recently, signing midfielder Olivier Kapo for £3.5m and Daniel de Ridder on a free, both from Birmingham City, as well as Egypt striker Amr Zaki on a one-year loan deal from Zamalek.

Just to be handy, they are up here playing Barnsley tonight too :), they can drop off any surplus midfielders ;)

Well Cotts and Browny both came on as subs tonight.... Browny getting on the scoresheet

and....

Browny says he's flattered by the reports linking him with a move back, but theres no truth in them.

Blackwell told Seth Bennett yesterday he can t find a way to get Cotterill.
Brown told Bennett that no one contacted him about a move to Bramall Lane.

Conclusion: we need to act quick, especcially now Gillespie is out for at least a month...
Maybe Martin could be an option (loan) again?

Blackwell ends Cotterill interest

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell will not be following up his interest in Wigan's David Cotterill.

The Blades had been linked with a move for the Welsh striker following his loan spell at the club last season.

But United manager Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield he will now set his targets elsewhere.

"We are struggling to get [the deal] going, but I've enquired about 25 left and right-side players and we will only pick one up if we think it's right."

Meanwhile Blades winger Keith Gillespie is likely to miss the start of the season after picking up an ankle ligament injury in last night's 2-1 win at Bury.

The news of Gillespie's injury leaves Blackwell without a recognised right midfielder at the club, something that he is not too concerned about:

"He will be out for goodness knows how long, but we have got some good strength in depth and so we should be ok."

"Kyle Naughton came on and did quite well. You have to mix and match sometimes."

brilliant, well played blacky

He put a few good crosses in and worked well with the team, but £2million people keep mentioning, i dont think he's worth it. Times he's neshed out of challenges, gone missing in games leaving the full back under fire are numerous, and too many to be rated at £2million.
