The RS commentator (was it Giddings??) mentioned to Wilder that the dressing room music was terrible. Wilder says it’s Dean Henderson as he thinks he’s top boy at the club so the 80s disco stuff will be back on.

My question is: what was Hendo listening to???

I’m more interested in what 80’s “Disco” music Wilder likes to listen to.

Given that the golden era of Disco was the 70’s, we might be straying into Ottowan territory here.

Or maybe it’s late 80’s and Stock, Aitken and Waterman Hi-NRG stuff?

Seems to be working whatever is

Oh it's god fucking awful isn't it? Every artist literally sounds the same...

Listen to this shite:

Not shit that. Spits mad bars.

You heard the one that goes “I’m still shopping at HMV for all my niggas in HMP”??

Or what about Skengdo? “Mind how you talk on the phone, my 2 pit bulls walk around on their own”. Mad rhymz fam

1980's was "post disco"

Kashif
Michael Wycoff
Kool & the gang
Atlantic Star
SOS Band
Whispers
Melba Moore
Midnight Star
Gwen Guthrie
Stevie Wonder
Ca$hflow

Off the top of my head.

Probably some mumble rap shit that seems to be all the rage with the kids today.

I feel like an elder of some sort has been saying this for about the last 20 years. It's probably longer but I'm only 29 so wouldn't know.

Check out Horse Meat Disco on youtube...

Funky disco in a modern setting.

People have been criticising hip-hop and rap since the days it started. Each to their own.

Rap is short for crap. It only gets interesting with the animation and silly gang signs of the artists in the videos and I think this is what the kids find appealing about it.

it'll be by one of these rappers they have now, the rap singers. I don't know if you've seen them? Yeah you know the rap singers. You've seen them on top of the pops, they have them don't they? The rap singers. You've seen them in the shopping centres , they run along the hand rails don't they? the rap singers. ....

He's lived in Manchester and Sheffield, listening to anything but Indie music would be a crazy.

To be honest as long as it's not Grime "music" I wouldn't mind.

I'd be amazed if any of them are on CW's dressing room playlists. Kool and the Gang maybe?
I think we're being too literal to be honest and he just means 80's music in general.
When I used to go to club's in the 80's they just played what was in the charts regardless of the genre.
"King of Rock 'n' Roll" by Prefab Sprout in Cairo Jax being one memorable example.

I'm guessing:-

"Never too much" by Luther Vandross
"Always there" by Jocelyn Brown
"I wanna dance with somebody" by Whitney Houston
"Don't you want me" by The Human League
"A little respect" by Erasure

If I had to listen to that before the match I’d go out and cement an opposition player with my first tackle. (Apart from Jocelyn).

C'mon Bushy always saw you as a kind of "Secret Lover" guy.

Snogging the night away, in a dark corner of some shady nightclub in 1985.
