Tbf I'd have no great issue with it being sung but I have to agree with your observation from Port Vale.

He was warming up with Freeman who was getting the 'Down the right' song and he applauded the fans. When the Carruthers song was being sung Freeman was laughing at him but Samir didn't look too impressed. Sort of a rolled eyes raised eyebrow expression. He then did a muted acknowledgement.
