Hecky really did get shafted after promotion, no manager in the world would've been able to have us competitive that season. Those first few games were pivotal, the likes of Palace, Forest and Everton were real opportunities to get a win or two. Instead, we sold Berge and Ndiaye just before the season started and had Basham playing in midfield with the likes of Brooks, Larouci, Slimane, Traore and Hackford on our bench. With most sides having Prem quality to come off the bench, we had youth/dross which hindered us even more, as early on we were drawing at Forest, drawing with Man City and winning at Spurs until the closing minutes of matches.
