I missed Jebbison today.

I think Hecky looked at the previous game against Luton and thought it wouldn't be the right game for younger players, as Luton are competitive and aggressive and inexperienced players can struggle against such opposition.

But we need options to change games, and Jebbison has pace, works hard, runs in behind and down the channels. In short he asks different questions of defenders and although he's not the finished product I think he should always be in the squad because he offers something different. I think we've done little to keep him ready the past few weeks. Having Basham, Baldock and Clark on the bench was one defensive player too much today.

He takes about 5 games too long to cotton on to when a player needs to be dropped. Bogle, and Lowe for that matter, have been shite for weeks

Fleck had a poor game, and Luton's pressing meant both Norwood and later Doyle struggled to get on the ball to dictate play.

Top class defenders have the skill and composure to actively invite and beat that pressure, and still get the ball into midfield. When we struggle to do that it looks such hard work to get passing moves going.

I would say Hecky hasn't watched Luton at all if he thought we could coast through with the least 3 mobile midfielders we have and only have the bagsman on the bench from an attacking perspective.

Let's be honest, this result has been coming and mirrors most of our away games this year.

Boring, negative shite with an obsession with keeping players involved from our last promotion despite being 1-2 years past it!

Needs a reset and back to the team and formation from post Christmas. Otherwise this time next year we will be 2024s Huddersfield

Is there some accepted theory that 70th minute is the optimum time to make a substitution Bergen Blade? I don’t understand why Hecky is so wedded to that time? If anything it gives the opposition to take the impetus by making an early change before that point.

There's a study with this theory:

Heading into the second half of a game, if you side is behind, it is important to make your first substitution prior to the 58th minute.

If you are still behind, the second change needs to come before the 73rd minute. If still behind, the third and final change should be made before the 79th minute.


The rule appear to hold regardless of the quality of opposition, and whether or not your team is at home. The study assumes that a substitution is successful if the goal difference is improved in the end. It has been found that teams are roughly 40 to 45 percent successful when following the rule, and 18 to 22 percent when not.


Obviously there are more substitutions allowed nowadays.
