I rabbited on in my graphs threads about Hecky being on target to equal our best Championship performance for over 20 years so, now that our only real target has been achieved, I thought that I would put some detail around our historical performances at this level.
The first national football season after the war was in 1946/47. I think that is far enough back for any comparisons to be reasonable!
( I had to convert from 2-point wins in 42 game seasons)
Since then we have been promoted 7 times, including this year,
This table shows where Hecky currently sits in the rankings - 5th equal if he gets no more points -
- but potentially soaring to the top if we win the next 3!
Let's go for it Hecky - and become our best Manager at Championship Level since the war.
The best so far was in a Coronation Year - is that an omen?
