Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall - official from Status Quo (Francis Rossi)

I'm more perturbed that Rossi calls him Sarbs, suggesting he knows him fairly well. (Edit - apparently his cousin toured with FR a few years ago).

What other ex players do we have that are friendly with 80s pop icons?

Geary getting a Good on yer Delboy message from Foster and Allen.

(original arrangement and lyrics - John Fogerty)

(this arrangement and lyrics – Gray/Woods/Crozier)

Oh, Billy Sharp and Chris Basham and Jack Longthrow
We’re Sheff United and we’re on a roll
Here we go, Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall

Ah giddy-up, we win at home, we win away
Bramall Lane is going crazy today
Here we go, Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall

And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it
I li-li-like it, li-li-li
Here we go, Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall

(solo x 2)

Sander Berge, Ollie Norwood, Fodders too
Get down town, go to Sheffield Two
Here we go, Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall

And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it
I li-li-like it, li-li-li
Here we go, Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall

And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it

Arguably the greatest thing that's ever happened.

Back story?

Arguably the greatest thing that's ever happened.

Back story?

I've done songs for United before - Blades Supreme, Bramall Lane and 'Bob' (the 'Crozier' end of this team) stuck out a rather fetching guitar-heavy GCB which I submitted to Gaz Sinclair twenty years ago as run-on music which he never used.

Heard the call for this song as everyone was singing it and was speaking to Sinclair about my band's gig at Maggie Mays a few weeks ago and he mentioned we'd done the songs in the past and how well received they were. In truth Blades Supreme and Bramall Lane were all my work and the GCB was me and Bob (so not HARDDRIVE as such) The GCB was just me and Bob.

So I hastily penned the lyrics and went home and laid the tracks down in my studio suite, took the mix North and me and Andy Gray (of Gray Associates) laid down the vox in his house up in the west of Sheffield the night before our gigs, I took the mix south (with COVID19) and Bob and I laid the guitar parts in (and he caught COVID off me) Mixed it that night, sent it to GS, he failed to reply so I am still badgering him to see if he'll play it on Tuesday night.

But anyway - with acknowledgements to the original artists and production team, my gift to the Blades. Enjoy and sing it loud!

Well I like it, I like it.
Another one for the Blades playlist.
Is this available on any medium I can download it from?
YouTube? iTunes? etc

Don't know lots about Status Quo but mid 60s in our village there was a bloke known as Cockney Ken, which was very strange in those days for a mining village to have people from "abroad". He was boarding a few houses away and you could have based Del Trotter on him .
Remember the lady who was boarding him moaning he had some mates stopping with him for a few days and they where a " bloody band". What stuck out to me was the name Status Quo. Funny how things stick with you.

Um ... absolutely no idea how to upload it to that platform. I'm not sure if Quo's production team wouldn't sue the arse of me too. Truth is I don't produce these songs for anything else but for our fans to listen to and sing. I don't do anything like that for profit or praise.

Bob Crozier - the guitars in that track (eight tracks of them, by the way) has played extensively in dozens of bands, some of which I have played in (the Music of the Millennium Channel Four programme in 1999 with us doing 'Jump' by Van Halen on the flight deck of HMS Iron Duke with Liza Tarbuck and Graham Norton being one) and he is by far the best axeman the Royal Navy has ever produced. But he'd never played RAOTW and rocked up (literally) with his Gibson, pedals and effects and nailed in in one hour fifty. It's also not a straightforward 12 bar Quo track either.

on 13 July 1985 there was only one song which could open possibly the greatest global gig ever and only one band to play it.

We weren't available that day, unfortunately. :)

May I suggest in the 1st line changing it to "Oh, Billy Sharp and Chrissy Basham and Jacky Longthrow".
Also put it forward for our Eurovision entry.
I thankyou....no comission required....
