He surely is.

Departure was inevitable in the end but you would also have to accept that, along with his own mistakes made, he was pissing in the wind for the last 5 or 6 months with as hopeless and thankless a task as you could possibly imagine.

Won’t struggle for work going forwards although not int PL.

A hearty GLTTL.

Cheers Casper.
Good luck in the future, I'm sure he won't be out of work for long.

I'm sure he'll be back in the grass before long!!

Classy bloke!

Won't be long before we can reminisce about the 18 month period where his team mullered the Championship!!

Lovely message. And there is a job at Sunderland or Swansea with his name on it. Think he will be Ok.

Rotherham too.

It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up. Hardly a household name but his stock should have risen enough for his next job to be at a Championship club.

Can't knock him for that. He was promoted to manager because the club needed a yes man to do their bidding and he agreed. I'll give him his dues, he didn't have to write a statement, he could've walked and remained silent, or gone out guns a blazing slating the club and owner. He didn't, probably because he knew what would happen this summer at the start of last summer as part of the five year plan he agreed to. The statement is indeed a class act and you can't knock how he conducted himself during interviews. It was only over the last two games where the cracks showed and his true emotions and frustrations started to show. I wanted him gone but I don't hold a grudge, not compared to other managers. At least he had last season going for him which the likes of Adams, Adkins et al don't have.

Thread title says it all.

I guess like quite a few, my support for him was total until the last two performances when a change became inevitable and unavoidable.

Getting us so close to promotion after replacing Slav and then completing the job last season shouldn't be underestimated. Largely carried himself with huge dignity in tough times too compared to many managers.

Deserves a decent future in the game.

Very best of luck to him, and many thanks.

Whatever the challenge, and whatever his own limitations, he maintained his dignity and professionalism to the end, under considerable pressure, in stark contrast with some of our players and supporters.

A huge and heartfelt GLTTL.

That last paragraph really encapsulates the man. A big thank you and wish all the best. I look forward to forming a bit of soft spot for whoever he takes charge of.

2 great seasons and an impossible job this season. Leave with your head held high Hecky.
You could have still slated the scouting team though...

Nice guy and did a brilliant job but should have been put to pasture once promoted with a big thank you pay out. Then hello Mr Potter

Gaffer , manager of our beloved club many thanks for all you and your back room staff have done and wish you well you have not failed as a coach/ manager you’ve worked miracles with the backing you didn’t receive from our so called owners IMO
Bless you and I hope you have great success in the future a100% Blade

Class indeed but I'd love to see an honest version. However we're all informed so know what he'd like to say if he could.

He'll get a gig soon enough unless he wants time off. I recall in our past 2 pre seasons he's hardly taken a break so maybe time for a reset.

The thing I didn’t like was the way some fans have tried to denigrate his achievements for us, since he took over. People trying to push certain agenda’s saying he was merely riding on the shoulders of Illiman N’Diaye etc etc.
Hecky did what he had to do, he turned us round after Slav, got us to the into the playoffs, gave us an enjoyable cup run and ultimately go us promoted into the big league…You can count the managers on one hand who’ve achieved that.
Unfortunately this season, he was overcome by circumstances beyond his control and he inevitably ran out of road.
Thanks Hecky, all the best.
