Heckingbottom Injuries

Away from all the conspiracy theories, maybe we have just been very unfortunate. Players today are so finely tuned that muscle and tendon injuries are part of the consequence of having muscle bulging out of their legs, thus injury is almost inevitable at some stage.
The bloke from Preston Little has a lifetime in the game ,wouldn't think he would push players too much Hecki would have picked up on it if it was due to over training after all its his neck on the line.

I am not claiming to be ITK, but a few weeks back, chatting to the lad sat next to us at BDTBL, the story was that we had four players seeing an external physio, because the internal physio's were swamped with all the injuries.

The four players were an under 23/development team player (can't remember who), Baldock, Basham and RND.

Apparently, the physio said that he couldn't understand how RND could even play first team football, as he was in such a bad way, and if he carried on playing, he would be crocked in the next few weeks.
Explains a lot if true. Players rehabilitation not being properly managed resulting in new injuries due to a lack of resources. Players taking longer than normal to come back because of lack of physio support.

Conditioning in the week between games games non existent as a a consequence of players carrying injuries. Players susceptible to hamstring pulls due to said lack of conditioning. Poor quality physio diagnosis and management.

It was obvious even to the untrained eye that it wasn't all about pitches. Until this is addressed we can forget about promotion because each week we will have a different starting eleven, new injuries to contend with and players physically unfit trying to complete 90 minutes.

The club lack resources at medical management level. The capability and competence of those in post also has to be questioned. This could be dealt with by the Board but there are no visible signs this is being taken serious with the forlorn hope that we can limp along to the World cup and it will be solved. It won't if changes aren't made in personnel and structure. We never had the scale of these problems under the stewardship of Matt Prestridge.

Of our current 20 man squad the only 2 players that haven't missed a game due to injury in the last 6 months are Norwood and Egan although Egan did sustain injury with ROI in the summer. That tells its own story. No other club in the Championship in fact probably the whole of the EFL has had the same level of injury problems. Yet none of the local journos have the balls to ask searching questions as to why this is happening.

Don't see what you mean? Say if the players are doing that wouldn't that be a good thing as it means they'd be getting a decent amount of rest and not doing other strenuous activities?
Maybe - or maybe it’s like Moose, undertaking activities not befitting athletes. The club can only do so much. Players also need to look after themselves. I’m not saying they aren’t by the way. Something’s definitely not right though.

Thought the shirecliffe sniper had got Hecky for a minute,

"We are looking at every injury and every one," he added. "It's another soft tissue injury, which has put us one ahead of where we were last season."

Sounds good, one ahead of where we were last season.

Hecky talking out of both sides of his mouth here.

Yes we’ve had injuries and yes that’s limited what we can do with players HAVING to play.

But he’s also bringing on subs with 60 seconds to play and didn’t bring people off when we were comfortably off in games. Why not make a change after 60/70 minutes. That’s 20/30 minutes less stress you are putting on peoples bodies. We’ve 5 subs available that we aren’t using

Ndaiye has played the most amount of minutes in the league - you can almost guarantee he’ll be next.

I guess like most on here I've been thinking about this ludicrous situation we find ourselves in this season in terms of the amount of injuries we've seen.
Some are simply unfortunate, like Flecks leg break, but the number of 'soft tissue' injuries as Hecky puts it just makes me think that it's time to bring back something that appears to have been lost in the modern game....
Liniment!
Rubbing oils, that white magical liquid that worked wonders, especially on winter's days warming your legs like nothing else.
The smell, along with that of tobacco, wafting from the changing rooms pre-kick off was hypnotic.
Be it Ellimans Rub, George Cricks White Oils Ebrocation or the mystical white liquid that the old fellow with the galvanized bucket of cold water and magic sponge would mix up in his shed, this stuff would be a guarantee stop muscle injury.
So stop messing around with resistance bands, throw away the Catapult tracking vests, bin the kinesiology tape and get back to basics!

It has to be one of the most pathetic statements I have heard from Hecky so far.

We are slightly less shit than last season on the injury front by 1 player.
