CB from Shrewsbury and ............................................

Not going to pretend I know a great deal about Grandison, but a quick scour on the Shrews forum suggests he's got bad fitness issues, was recently released by them because of it and their fans thought the consequence would be him playing non-league.

James Wilson I saw play against us, he was dire. Really, really poor. Be disappointed with that one too. Surely Beevers was a better option and within our budget?

Leon Clarke and Kyle McFadzean have some pedigree at this level, be it goal scoring record or promotions on the CV. McFadz is a Blade and a fairly tough centre half, decent in the air, but prone to error and not great with the ball at his feet, but I'd take him. Leon Clarke will certainly do a job if his legs don't run out on us. He could end up being one that came in two years too late.

These aren't really the signings I wanted us to be making, they suggest to me we're pretty skint and doing things on a shoe lace. Underwhelmed.

I agree on all that, especially Wilson.

But it was always going to be on a shoestring this summer, or at least a reduced budget, but its how Wilder gets them together as a team, not always the best players win promotion.

Imagine social media in Bassetts day, with some of those names he brought in during the early days, but he got them playing as one, and promoted (i`ll gloss over the initial relegation!)

The CB signings will be between Grandison, Kilgallon, McFadzean and Wilson. Hoping Kilgallon and McFadzean will be definite signings

Our current regime would have sacked Bassett after he got us relegated.

It's underwhelming if true but not unexpected, we were warned about these next two transfer windows.

Next season is one where we are going to have to be satisfied with stability, anything above that such as a challenge for a play off spot will be a bonus.

My whelm has never been so under tbh...I hope Wilder is related to Houdini

If it'll be Grandison, McFadzean and Wilson it will be three right footed centre halves, which isn't what Wilder originally wanted. He may have had to make compromises though.

If Freeman finds a new club, maybe Grandison will be expected to provide back up at right back as well, and possibly this will free up space for a left footed centre half?

Leon Clarke had a better than 1 in 2 record AGAIN last year, NO problems with him signing at all.

McFadzean I'm happy with, Killa too. Wilson and Grandison... meh.

Is it a risk worth taking on fitness of Grandison?
If it's him we are signing, is there much difference to that of Wallace for example?

I still maintain that at some point Wallace will return to full fitness and once he does will be a good player for someone. Maybe just maybe Wallace might be able to get a full pre season in and be that player for us? That would be like a new signing.

Let's face it, we're fucked aren't we?

The years and years of mistakes have finally caught up with us and now the owners have turned us into a mid table league club. fucking sickening.
