Got rid of all we need to in terms of high wages and other things that were causing us to look over our shoulder?

Today could be the start of the upward trend?

Well, there was certainly room for cautious optimism today. Flynn was MoM for me. This was far and away his best performance. Quinn was not missed at all. KMac was majestic in the middle - truly a proper footballer. Our young frontmen both bring qualities that we are not used to and each deserved to get on the score sheet. Cofie's goal - WOW! - a sweet run followed by a hot shot - brilliant. I can see them getting 20 each if fitness permits.

Now for the defending.....:eek::eek: work needed at Shirecliffe methinks!

Well done Blades. Well done Danny. That's Entertainment!

Don't know about a new era, but I've been quite excited to watch Blackman and Coffie develop.
I think there is potentially a great partnership there and good to see them both scoring early into the season.

Watching what is now Dannys team develop is going to be the exciting part of this season.

An absolutely brilliant game to watch. Our play going forward at times was stunning. Even the ones we didn't score. There was Cofie's off the bar after great play from Collins and MacDonald and that lovely move that ended in a tame McAllister shot. Plus the two dozen times someone hit a raking crossfield pass that was killed instantly by the recipient.

Obviously it would be remiss to ignore the defending, which needs real work. However as entertainment that was as good as I've ever seen.

Our defending was poor last season despite what the stats say, and I don't think it can be pointed to our new style of play allowing chances at the other end. We are just plain sloppy at time and switch off hopefully this will be sorted. Additionally if Maguire or possibly Kennedy are playing at least it is forgiveable. Its when the established pros do it that it really pisses me off.

That said we are in a league where this sloppiness won't kill us. Hopefully we improve as a defensive unit as the season goes on.

get back in the pool or go play with Mickey Mousse ;)

Still think we need someone to really push Collins and Maguire for the centrehalf place. I'm still not sure over Maguire.

£12 for me and two kids= 8 goals was great value for money. attacking wise very good, flynn,k mac played great i hope flynn gets a run in the team and finds his confidence now. we need a right winger urgent imo. and a goalie! defensively anything in between goalkeeper end centre half and we look like a sunday league side. they need to get better collectively because its going to cost us over the season!

I would agree on both points. Tel Kennedy is unlikely to be the answer this season so a loan deal would make a lot of sense. I also don't think it is in Maguires interests to play every game, he got tired mid season last year and we need to have the option of resting him.

lets not forget Bournemouth are one of the few div 1 clubs thats splashing some cash, they are very ambitious and other clubs are envious of their clout, its a good result to smack 5 past a team thats been touted as play off contenders

Great game and scope for much optimism today.

After 15 minutes I thought 'men and boys' then, after 2 warnings, they scored. Obviously Cofie's goal is the kind that wins Goal of the Season, but I thought Cressie's was better. After Flynn nicked the ball, just watch Cressie's lung-bursting - and fast - run from deep (about 50 yards) to get on the end of it.
Hill was left badly exposed early on when they doubled up on him, but we sorted that out and I think he's a cracking little player. Flynn, a revelation.

Obviously letting three in at home is cause for concern and the goalie, well. Too small and nowhere near commanding enough.

McD M-O-M for me among some strong contenders. Hope he keeps fit as his vision is a class apart.

Very early days, but I think this will be a season to remember!

totally agree! k mac is great to watch on his day we must wrap him in cotton wool rest him when we can .

I really hope we've bounced off the bottom and that McCabe is protecting the freehold for the right reasons.
Winning at home and drawing away is promotion stuff.

Blimey Beighton, has someone else been using your login!?

DW doing a great job and hopefully the expensive cancer has been cut out of the club. Lesson to be learned is that we should never go down the path of stupidly high transfers, wages and ridiculous contracts ever again.

No more world cup bids or stupid clubs abroad. No more hotels or ventures. Put the money into the club and stop speculating on pipe dreams. Do that and we should be ok.

I expected "the bottom" to come after current contracts expired at the end of this season. I can only view these developments as really positive. It's all about direction of travel, rather than location. We can at last start to build from a platform where we can at lest afford what we've got.

UTB

Now the high earners have gone there can be no more excuses we should be the big fish in a small pond.

We also need a replacement for MacD for when he gets injured

cant stand that kind of talk but i suppose it gives you more scope for complaint when we dont win 5-0
