The edge.
Ave we ever had the pleasure since the days of brown, McCall, Tonge ?
Fantastic recruitment from Sir Christopher to pack the mid park full of quality.
Evans. Leonard. Fleck. Holmes. Duffy. Lundstram. Brooks. Couttsy.
A fantastic engine room.
Over a season thats a fantastic midfield to pick from.
I'm appeh. The future is very bright.

We have got a proper team. Depth in squad and we have still got Freeman, Coutts, Brooks & Evans to come back.

Wilder is building a proper team! We are only going one way, keep him happy and we will get there imo.

Brooks gone for £ 150 million ?

Who to ?

Looking at that squad today I realised that there are going to be quite a few disappointed players once Coutts, Freeman, Brooks and Ched are fully fit. Wright not even in the squad despite losing CCV.

gavtheblade Whilst the title is a little misleading stating "best midfield to choose from", because we don't have players like Coutts, Brooks and Freeman to choose from at the moment, the depth we have is excellent.

The good / bad thing is that the options we have are all subtly different, so we don't have a direct replacement (for example Lundstram for Coutts) which has caused us a few problems in the last few months, but the good thing with that is that now that the midfielders are learning how each other plays, we are becoming less predictable and every change offers positives.

Wing back is the only concern for me now, in terms of cover, what with Freeman out and not knowing if Lafferty can perform in this league, on the left.

People keep saying it’s CW job to keep them happy the players who perform will be happy. I always got told the best player on the pitch never gets subed off (talking about semi pro).

It’s the same here the players who perform will force CW that they are playing. CW Will continue to play them while they do.

Freeman can battle it out with Baldock.

CW hasn’t hidden away in the fact that Lavery/ Carruthers are available for loan since the arrival of Wilson/ Holmes.

CW was saying his squad is a little bit but needs trimming. Then in the summer I think it will be 10 out with a few players with real quality added.

That's how football works. Unlike using a 'scattergun' transfer policy (like Wednesday), Wilder knows a player who will fit into the Sheffield United ethos, has character and whose fee and wages are within our budget. He won't choose a player whose wage demands will ruin the dressing room harmony. If a player isn't performing, he'll know there's a more-than-suitable player breathing down his neck. CW is building a team where there are two quality players for each position. So no more talk about 'Where's the Maguire/ Murphy/D C-L money gone?' please.

This is where a good cup run comes in handy, not only to give players not playing a run out, but hopefully the chance to force wilders hand.

The players who didn’t start yesterday but make the nucleus of a decent side.

Blackman, Wright, Lafferty, lundstram, Duffy, brooks, sharp, Evans.

I imagine that Thomas, Carruthers and lavary will be involved against Preston before being loaned out.

Training must be intense
