How do you compare the quality of the Basset era to the present day?

Nowhere near as good, this is the best group of midfield players I’ve seen, and I’m talking back to the early 80’s (when we were shit)
Bassets players didn’t possess anything like the ability of these lads, Hodges was good at what he did but not the complete player these are.
The rest were the age old description of “workmanlike”, they did a job and worked hard.
Whereas we now have players prepared to work hard but have that top quality too.

This really is the Utopia for midfield players
