What were you expecting 11 great players in every age group?

Last seasons FA cup team we made up with kids stretching a few age groups.

Good point Bob. It's not about producing good teams, it's about producing good individuals. 3 outstanding players every year would be excellent, but wouldnt produce (in itself) a good team.

Apart from a couple (e.g. Elliot Whitehouse) I think the best ones have progressed to the first team squad - backfill with younger and less experienced players then you get a youth team that struggles until the lads get older and tougher. Like Alco states - it's about producing players for the first team.

Under 18s:

Blades 1 - Leeds United 6

Does it matter? Any good ones will be off after half a dozen games and the cash will disappear into the blackhole!

Actually agree with others - the results and team performance are not massively relevant. If we can produce one genuine first team player per year than that will be good going.

Lowton is about the standard we need to aim for. Good but not too good that he's off straight away.

The black hole is the likes of Evans' wages. Like it or not, It needs filling somehow.

It's not the sale of these players tht's the problem. It was the creation of this black hole in the first place.
