When I saw the line up with four effectively defensive minded players in midfield and Porter I was worried but to give the manager credit we won and from all accounts should have been out of sight before the mad ten minutes.

Maybe this is the way Clough thinks is the best way to get us out of trouble in the league not pretty, not much flair but playing for results.

If it gets us away from the the bottom four when the league games come around I will take it.

I'd imagine he just wants us to stop losing at the minute. I wouldn't judge his style too much for the first few months.

its a marathon not a sprint

it is so funny, the snuffling and snorting last week as they all gloated at the trough, saying they had always had faith in Moans to come good. Fast forward a week and its back to sack the useless pillock! Reading must have had one really bad off day last week!

Not sure how this thread has turned into one about the pigs, but anyway.

Sounds like Clough is steadying the ship. Before they scored the commentator said that he was asking his bench how on earth Porter missed that sitter. So we should've been 3 up and out of sight. In the end it didnt matter.

But I think Clough knows that with Porter and King he hasn't got strikers, so can't rely on them to get goals.

By setting up with a hard to beat back 9 then the theory would be that we play for a smash and grab. Obviously the plan wasnt to concede two!

Credit where it's due though, he made changes and we managed to sneak the winner.

Onwards and upwards....

I am liking his honesty about individuals post match. He seems to do it in a non snidey and merley honest fashion. He stated lkast week Brandy cost us the game by stupidly getting sent off. This week he stated that he was'nt happy with King's hold up play either last week, so Porter got his chance.

I remember reading an interview in one of the nationals about Clough joining us and it had an interview with the bloke who took Cloughy for Burton to Derby County and he says pretty much what you said about Clough. He said that if you are open and honest with clough you can expect the same back from him as a manager. He is known to have ruffled a few feathers because no matter how big of an influence you are in the changing room, if you haven't done what is asked of you or if you haven't played to the best of your ability then you are going to find yourself either on the bench of even in the reserves.

I believe that 'Big Names' have been a negative influence for some time. Good to see Clough being ready to alter things, irrespective of name or reputation.

Can only be a good thing for the Club longer term.

if anyone missed it there was a classic owls fan moment on radio Sheffield tonight , irate of Mansell quote "just 2 words , Dave Jones out"
That was so funny. Andy Giddins just said " that's 3 " and laughed. At the end of the call he just said for obvious reasons that was the call night" Me and the wife were in the car just said "thick piggy bastard"
