Has Lavery done enough to earn a start?

My nipper didn't like his contribution one iota on Sunday.

I thought he was a bit better than that, but didn't see much of this "blistering" pace our S6 neighbours told us of.

Done (despite his lack of goals) still in front - as is Billy in front of Clark - and it's a no at the moment to play Clark and Sharp together - smacks too much of an experiment that could continue to go wrong.

From the reports we had about him , I think he's been abit of a disappointment so far. No quicker than done, and his work rate hasn't been that great so far., for a young lad. I thought he was going to be quicker and work the defenders harder. And has shown nothing ,as in , shooting ability in front of goal. But besides that, I think we are onto a winner!

Fulwood agree with that . As a side issue I did my stint at Western Park today and had the misfortune of having to see the S6 pigs making a visit .

Totally blanked the fuckers . However had a good chat with Johnny Foreigner Carlos . Told him

1. Seeing his players made me feel ill

2. What did Carlos think of Lavery . Said we had got ourselves a bargain but would struggle up front with Billy Sharp . Had watch United and we were promotion Certs . Bloke knows his football IMO. He knew who we had been sniffing around for the JTW but would not let on , but was 2 forwards .

Not really sure why we signed Lavery, didn't pull up any trees for Pompey in the division lower plus he was injured when we brought him in. He's got time to develop but we don't have time to develop him....we need to get out of this godforsaken division so really needed to bring in someone ready to hit the ground running.

Just to add to my answer though , I think Lavery has a lot to offer but not as a striker . I feel we'd see the best of Lavery in a Duffyesque role . It's back up to Duffy that I think we will see the best of him .

If Chapman wasn't injured Lavery shouldn't even make the bench, he's behind Done, Clarke and Scougall in the pecking order for second striker. With Chapman gone he's more or less guaranteed a bench spot, but so far hasn't shown he's any more worth a place than someone like Brooks. Hopefully he can show he was worth signing, but he's nowhere near a starter.
