It's like being a kid and wanting a bike for Christmas. For five years you get board games and a tangerine . Then the year after you get the bike that you're really happy with you unexpectedly get a brand new Porsche, a filthy super model that wants to ride you every night and a few years supply of ale. Non of which which you expected and you're not quite sure how to react.
I'd still have the bike tho' .... right ?

Also the high court stuff is a real downer that has taken the gloss of it

UTB
Seriously? I've pretty much shut off from all that

I don't get or even care about it. Of course it will affect the club in a few ways. But it doesn't really affect the playing side too much. Life goes on in that respect.

Same here, Swiss. Premier League? Crap boardroom? It's not like we haven't been here before, but I'd much rather be where we are than Bolton, Derby (loanees and ageing squad and probably about to lose their manager), West Brom/Stoke (cold realities of being in the Championship sinking in), Coventry (homeless...again) or Sunderland (owner - having paid for the club out of Sunderland's parachute payments - looking to move on - after 13 months.) Or Wednesday. It's 4½ years since Kim Wrong 'Un took over. They've spent vastly more than us (Forestieri, Hooper, Fletcher, Rhodes, Reach etc. etc. + ridiculous wages) and are as near to League One as they are to the PL. The ground has deteriorated even further (apart from lots of self-serving advertising for Wrong 'Un), crowds will dwindle further next season and - hopefully - FFP punishment coming their way. :)

It's done and sunk in for me. I don't care what happens now because to me it was the final realisation of an ambition to see us where we belong and for us to get back and put things right. All my life I have railed against injustice. We start again now.

We were founder members of the PL. Our Brian scored the first goal. We were cheated out of it in 2007 by a combination of Warnock's ineptitude, Steven Bastard Gerrard and Rob Styles, Manure and Spam "cheating".

Before then we had the very strange case of Wimbledon, Everton and Grobbelar in 93/94 combined with, as Wiki says "no money to strengthen". Hamstrung by the thief Woolhouse and then by Brearley who was fortunately more honest we were allegedly cheated once more in that season.

In my formative years as a supporter, we spent 12 out of 15 years in the top division so that's where I believe we should be. We have had some shit and incompetent managers. We have had some right old shysters as chairman since then. Compared to Woolhouse, Brearley, McDonald (whoever can forget hatchet man Charles Green) and would be chairman Hinchliffe, youngsters, McCabe is a Saint. But throughout it all, we have never had any real money, but never gone bust.

Whilst I am just happy we are back where we belong, I fear that the next chapter in our story may be the start of another cycle of no investment, arse rape the assets and dishonest decline. We aren't immune to what happened to Portsmouth, Birmingham or Notts County. Not 4 miles away we have the recent example of potential disaster with their flirtation with Geoff Sheard, Cloud 9 Group,Hafiz Mammadov and dear old uncle Milan selling them to......... er somebody who could possibly be a Thai bloke with or without a taxi company.

No lads and lasses. It has sunk in. We are here, we deserve it and it will not be us the supporters, the players or the manager and back room staff who fuck it up for us. Our work is done. Over to whoever owns us and pray they have money and ambition.

Quality.

Nope it’s not really sunk in yet..

Was driving along with the wife the other day and she was going on about something, I wasn’t listening, and then i just started laughing to myself at the wheel as I’m thinking about next season and in my head came the thought .

How the fuck have we gone up to the premier league ?

(I watched it all, I know how, but weren’t we supposed to be also rans)

We're there because we belong there based on our football. We're not Cinderella and its not a ball.

Fully agree with this but I still cannot quite grasp that we are a Premier League club.

When you review the statistics of the 2nd half of the season (foggy memory but something like 15 clean sheets in 21 and only lost 2 games during) we were excellent.

It's strange that I have had to look at that in retrospect to appreciate how good we've been.

We were truly excellent last season and not just in the second half. Only Norwich lost fewer games, only Middlesbrough conceded (equal) fewest, apart from the first two matches of the season we never lost two games on the trot, fifth top-scorer (Sharp) and - at the 'business end' of the season (last 23 games starting with a 3-1 home win v. Derby on Boxing Day)... P: 23 W: 15 D: 6 L: 2 F: 42 A: 14 Pts. (out of possible 69) 51. Clean sheets kept: 15 (including 7 on the bounce), Games we failed to score: 2.

It's a pity we didn't get the credit we deserved, but Norwich, FLDC and tactical wizard Bielsa probably deserved it more...

Quite the most enjoyable season in my 57. I feel a graph coming on...

probally not now til the fixtures come out because as others have said in my time as utd fan ive seen us in championship for 14 years league 1 for 6 years & premier league for 1. & that 1 seasons the premier league was non where near as big as it is. then it was sort of European now its fully global & there are teams with bigger budgets that we just beat in championship than we compete against 13 years ago

I gave you the like for that bit about not listening to the wife, don’t they witter on?

It's because we yearned for that L1 promotion for so long that when we finally did it, it was epic.

On the other hand, we weren't in the Championship for very long and so didn't have time to build up the same level of desire.

I think that's right and probably explains why the likes of Leeds, Derby, even the Gruntbuckets (who had 5 additional years to build a promotion side) seem genuinely devastated and more psychologically damaged each year they fail to go up. Where are if we had missed out this season I would have got over it very quickly and looked forward to a 3rd season in a great league.

It's really strange. I was far more buzzing when we got out of League One.

I can understand that. League 1 was where we shouldn't have been, Premiership is where we possibly should be. Most of the time I’ve watched United we’ve been a bit too good for the second tier of football but not quite good enough for a long spell in the top tier, and had a curious fondness for the the third tier. Plus a sporadic venture to the 4th tier.

Fixtures tomorrow might change things re sinking in.

But really think united should have done more to build on the momentum I.e kit launch, new sponsorship announcement, a signing or too - even just the expected hendo on etc.

Essentially all we haven’t had any positive news since and it’s just been wilders happiness and the club getting dragged through the mud in court.

Perhaps it’s just the weather that’s making me grumpy atm

Any forward thinking club would have launched a local taxi service, developed a mass market pale ale and started their own major in house kit brand ('D V 8'?).

All we have done is the same as most of the rest of the Premier League.

Lol! I know I’m being petty.

Just think - it’s an easy win to say show some teasers of the kit with the PL badge on the sleeves etc... it would at least stop the only thing of note in the off season being the fucking court case and build on the positive momentum of last year.

Not sunk in I just can't imagine it, first MOTD will probably do it.

A court case and no real player rumours, yeah I can't bloody wait.

Give me the championship anyday of the week. I'm grateful however for the 200+mill

It's just sunk in a bit more.

It's been a lifelong ambition of mine to visit the Vitality stadium:)

Fuckin bring it on

It's funny that after 12 years wait, 6 years playing in League One and now finally we're back, only to play Bournemouth! Lol! That's not a complaint and fair play to them. Can't wait!

It finally sunk in for me today when a Liverpool fan at work texted to say he was looking forward to our trip to anfield on New Year’s Day😀😀. He’s gonna try and get a ticket for sept 28th at the Lane. They’re gonna lose both games anyway🤣. UTB ⚔️
