Watched him last night, his first game since that Boxing Day game vs Burnley in 2024. One of the best individual performances I’ve seen from a defender in some time. He headed, blocked, and cleared anything that went into the Leicester box, not to mention going through about three Millwall players to score a header.

There’s no way Leicester would be in League One next season, if he’d been fit all season. What was our defensive record in 2024/25 when he played? Something like 14 clean sheets in 20 games, ridiculous.

I was initially wary of speculation of him possibly coming back due to his injury troubles, but he’s exactly what we need. He’s a tough imposing centre-back that wins absolutely everything aerially and a real leader. Him and Bindon together would be a superb partnership. Leicester are totally ruined financially and while they may not want to sell, they’ll have no choice as I’m sure he’d love to come back. Hope Wilder was watching last night and we sort a deal before the World Cup.

On that note, Souttar played 98 minutes. I know centre backs cover less distance than other positions, but can anyone imagine a United player doing this after a 16 month injury?

Team with nothing to play for doing an aggressive bit of marketing knowing that there's one club watching who seem uniquely focussed on bringingemback? See lads, he's definitely fit, now sign here... ;)

1 game 1 ucking game and bring him home
Don’t think he’s going to drop his wages by 25 k plus per he’s got other options

What people don’t seem to understand is the reason we even have a chance of signing him is down to his past injuries, we aren’t in a position to sign players that aren’t:
1. Just out of an academy and need bringing on.
2. Past it.
3. Injury prone.
The Sheffield United Way.
It’s alright Wilder saying we need a small compact squad, but we can’t afford decent players who will remain fit!! Sign him up.

He played very well last night and I’m hopeful for him that he’s over the worst of it and kicks on for the rest of his career.

Money and football wise it would still be an absolutely huge gamble to spunk decent money on him based on one showing after a huge lay off.

Didn't we have an approach of looking at teams' player of the season from the league below a while back? Maybe that's the approach to getting vfm signings with good availability stats*.

*I have not, nor can I be bothered, researching L1 teams' players of the season

I'm saying he'd need to prove his fitness but the problem is he could pass a medical and yet his knee could still go again months into the season like last time. That's the risk any team signing him would need to take.
Well based on that we,ll probably give him a 4 year contract.

Can you imagine a fully fit spine of Cooper, Souttar, Phillips and Bamford. Championship cheat 😜

Just what Tyler needs👍Strong leadership and opportunity to push forward knowing someone capable is covering.

Much as I liked Souttar at the Lane, no more crocks.

We will not have money to waste and we have too many of them already.

I loved him for us. He was a Colossus. That spine of Cooper, Souttar and Souza was beyond solid. I thought we might never concede again.

But, in this world of new financial regulations we need to be ruthless.

Younger players, higher ceilings, good fitness and availability has to be the order of the day. Sign a squad that might not cost the earth and can grow over time, as with Fleck, Baldock, Enda, JOC etc.

Unfortunately I suspect the "experience at the top end of the Championship" mantra rules out most younger players apart, perhaps, from Premier League loanees who, of course, will only be with us for a season 🙁

That'd be Souttar, 1 game 1 goal, = Poxes player of the year!

Assuming he plays in the world cup he might actually be ahead of most players in early/late July! With Leicester's last game, two friendlies and at least 3 world cup games that's the time to judge if he's fit again.

Can see him going to Saudi tbh. Easier for his International trips around Asia with Australia
