Sheffield United fans “our fitness is shit, we run out of steam, our players are always injured”

Also

Sheffield United fans “let’s sign a player who’s had 3 surgeries, a career threatening injury which normal people struggle to fully recover from, never mind elite athletes and has barely kicked a ball since 2024”

If he can prove his fitness maybe. He was class before. But his wages are big and dare I say McGuiness is a similar player who I think deserves a crack at it next season but that's just my view. Souttar would still be an attractive signing though to compete with McGuiness.

Are you saying his fitness is a bit of a grey area then?

He was superb for us.

Big reservations about his fitness now, we can’t keep what we have fit

If Leicester, in the parlous state they are in, won't play him, what does that say about where he is in the fitness stakes? The lad was immense for us until he got crocked but we are, or should be, looking at having a much fitter side for next season and I'm afraid that shouldn't include the likes of Harry, unfortunately.

Gerimmmmmin !

I'm saying he'd need to prove his fitness but the problem is he could pass a medical and yet his knee could still go again months into the season like last time. That's the risk any team signing him would need to take.

Might be a bit of a rogue take, but maybe we should extend our recruitment net out a little further beyond players who have previously played for us or players that support us / "get it"? Worth a try....
So, don't bring them home then? ....I'm in !

I'd take him if he was on a free, signed as a back-up with a shit load of potential upside.

But if he's wanting similar money to what he's on and Leicester are chasing a big wedge.. all of which is likely... then it's a thumbs down due to the risk profile.

We have to be smarter with our money and, to coin a cheesy phrase,
"the biggest ability, is availability,"
we've signed too many crocks in the past and it needs to stop.

Souttar's big injury cost us dearly last season.

There is a reason Blades fans would like to see a fully fit Souttar back
Hes a known quantity to us if hes fit. He was immense in the games he played for us who wouldnt want a fully fit Souttar back ?

The question mark is very obviously his fitness after the very bad injury he suffered
We should only go back in for him if we can get a deal that is very much weighted to his fitness and availablilty

If we were in a position where we could afford to take a punt on a player who is coming back from such a serious injury, then I would be up for it, because he was one of the most commanding CBs I have ever seen in a Blades shirt.

But I don't think we will be in that position now, as every signing will need to be reliable and cost effective. I also think we have seen enough in recent years who might get back to their previous levels, but never quite manage it.

Such a shame that his injury happened, because we were almost unbeatable with him in the team. Our record of losing key players at crucial times, is just staggering.

You won't see "a fully fit Souttar" again for at least 12 months, if ever. The question is could we get him "fit enough" to still be worth a starting spot over McGuinness, and if so how much should we pay to try and do so.

Westergaard is crap, him and Faes are one of the reasons Leicester are where they are, Faes went to Monaco, how bad must they be?. Souttar was excellent before he was crocked, but his injuries have been bad ones, surely must be better to look elsewhere. There is too much living in the past, hoping to rekindle the good old days, but time moves on yet Sheffield people are stuck in the past never wanting to change or try anything different, it's not like we've won anything holding on to these ideas is it?

It's a no from me.

I think his brother would be a better shout. He's proven that he can come back from two torn achilles for a start!

Harry Souttar has had such a long time out the game and last time I checked, we weren't meant to be a rehab facility for injured players, despite appearing to the contrary.

We need fully fit players who can contribute from minute one in August, not crocks who aren't match fit and might never be but want back for the sake of nostalgia.
