Souttar is a Goliath of a centre half - something we’ve not seen at the lane since a young Harry Maguire donned the Blades shirt. Exciting.

Robbo has been decent for a while but he has never been as good as Anel or Souttar

Anyone who thinks Robbo is even remotely close to them two is living in cloud cuckoo land and judges footballers on doing two footed challenges

Given we know how good Anel’s can be in this division, I think we have to give him and Souttar a chance to play together. Assuming Souttar is happy on the left in a two, and Anel recaptures his form, that could be an immense pairing. I’m getting (championship grade) Vidic and Ferdinand vibes. If Anel carries on his form from last year then Souttar and Robbo not a bad pairing at this level either.

We’re not going to win every game this year playing beautiful, rapid football. We’ll need to win ugly on occasion. Being able to field a strong side with, say, RND left back, Gilchtist Right back, Souttar, Anel, Vini and Moore is a scary amount of physicality.

Best thing about the Souttar Anel Robbo combination argument is that Trusty, who I thought played really well tonight isn’t even coming up in conversation. Excellent depth at centre half this season. We should try a formation that has 3 at the back maybe? (Kidding)

Agreed he had a great debut against, let’s be honest, a poor side.
My only concern is that he could be exploited by a quick tricky forward especially if we continue with a centre half pairing.
As Wilder likes a right footer and a leftie, I can see some teams causing problems to Souttar plus Robinson/Trusty.
