Harry Maguire signs for Manure for £80 mill

I’m sure the £100k a week will suit him

Yeah I’m sure it will, but I’d expect he’s on even more at Man Utd, if his earnings are in any way relative to the fee they’ve paid. Plus they’re wage bill is the highest of any football club in the country.

Danny James is reportedly on £67k and he’s unproven at that level. Maguire as an experienced Premier League and International player would surely be on a salary nearer £150k? Either way, I don’t expect he’ll be starting a window cleaning round when he retires ;)

Nothing at all on Leicester City web site or Man Ure. And its in the Sun. And he s flying to Manchester? From Leicester. Really?

Why would he be in Leicester anyway, doesn't he still live here?

I find it strange people think Maguire going to Man Utd is the wrong decision.

They are still regarded as top 3 club WORLD WIDE.
Man Utd suffered because they had a crap defence and Jose going mental.

I’m not really that bothered about Man Utd but they are bringing in young and hungry players and with Maguire improving their defence they could shock a few next year if not the year after.

Complicated equations, but basically there’s a percentage from the transfer that goes to the club that developed the player. This is separate to any sell on clauses, so it’s paid even if there aren’t any sell on clauses at all, apparently.
Only applies to age 23 ?
Harry is 26

I read it as training compensation upto the age of 23 and then solidarity payment of 5% for subsequent transfers while the player is under contract.

Harry was in the British oak this afternoon as I was getting pissed 🙄 he was with a couple of mates and hiding behind his cap, chuffed he's doing well, good luck to him at man u

Man U are the 2nd biggest club in world football. Seems a great move for Harry.

They'll be back and he can be part of their turnaround

BBC Footy Gossip: The Scum reckons Leicester will pay £45m for Dunk to replace him.

Sadly I fear that with more cash burning a hole in their pocket, Brighton might come back with a bigger bid for JOC.

Don't shoot the messenger!

They might well do and I'd imagine this might be met with a resounding fekoff, unless they meet our 50m price tag.

Why would JOC want to move from a newly promoted PL club managed by Chris Wilder to a so-so club like Brighton?

Why not rephrase that to:

Why would JOC want to double his £20k per week at SUFC by moving to a more established premier league club for say £18m and getting 5% of the transfer fee?

I agree that CW is better than Potter and they may well be fighting relegation with us. The fact remains however they have been in the Prem longer, accumulated more cash and will certainly be paying higher wages.

I think that our present squad are enjoying the ride they're getting with CW/AK :)
Personally don't think any of 'em would bail out without giving it at least one season in the PL with us, despite the lure of instantly cashing in.
Do you see JOC playing an overlapping CH role at any other club? ;)

I'm sure they are but I didn't see Kyle Walker leaving when he did.

They all have families to support and it's a short career. I'd love to think you are right.

No, but I see him doubling his salary.

It's different for someone like Jags who has already made a pile, coming back 'home'. Players like JOC, while being far better paid than you or I, are way down the bottom of the PL payscale and will remain so at the Lane, even if we stay up.

They’ve only been in for two seasons and spent a fortune getting there. They’re not that rich. And they’ve changed DoF since they bid for JOC, who has since signed a new contract and is likely to be on more than £20k a week in the PL with us.

I take your point about money, but these guys (seem to me) are getting a real buzz about playing for the Blades in our 'system' and although they may not have reached 'peak salary' yet, they will all have had a substantial pay-rise and probably bonuses.
It just don't believe they would see it as a hardship to defer peak salary for one more season.

They’re not that rich.

Their owner built them a new stadium and looks like he will pay what it takes. We have two bald men arguing over a comb.
Don't forget they were amongst the highest wage payers in La Liga when they went up. We most certainly weren't.

I din't know that and that's probably good news.

What's you guess, £25k?

He’s rich but there’s a limit. I doubt his intention is to keep funding them in the PL indefinitely.

My guess would be £30k. He’s a key player so we could offer him a new contract if necessary. I’d be worried if it was a club like Leicester. I’m not worried about Brighton.

I bet those Leicester fans are breathing a massive sigh of relief; they know what Harry's worth and it ain't 80 million quids!
