I wonder what odds you can get for them to be starting as England's centre back pairing in a few years time. Must be worth a few quid at least.

Very long I'd guess, I think you'd get decent odds purely on O'Connell to get a cap.

At the moment there is Michael Keane, Ben Gibson, John Stones and Harry Maguire who are a similar age and miles ahead in terms of England. Then there is the likes of Alfie Mawson and Mason Holgate in the under 21s who are Premier League regulars.

Basically, Jack has had a cracking season, but let's not put too much pressure on him too soon!

Exactly why you'd put a bet on it then. It's a definite possibility and he's definitely got the potential but it's a long way off yet, hence you'd get good odds. You don't put a bet on bad odds do you ;)

Harry lacks pace, and sometimes his brain takes too long to engage for me. He started his last season with us over-weight and off the pace. Big Jack for me over the longer term - quicker, sharper, stronger, younger, taller, leaner. Simple choice really.

FFS are some of you seriously telling me you are placing JOC who has had an excellent three quarters of a season in League 1 above Maguire who has had a fantastic season in the Premier League, is worth £10 to £15m and close to an England call up.

Its absolutely ridiculous.

Personally i think Jack O'Connell is as good as Maguire in League One (at least), and i hope we can keep him for as long as possible. I don't see him being a weak link in our Championship team, he's built like a blast furnace.

Obviously Maguire has his praises throughout football this season and has been linked with a "soon-to-be" England call up.

For me I prefer Jack O'Connell. He could become a bit of a legend here if he stays here for the rest of his career ala Chris Morgan.

Jack OConnell smoking Balkan Sombranie with cardigan on outside pub . Who the fuck does he think he is John Harris .

its not even a contest. JOC.

Harry was ok but very slow and a heavy (not fat) young kid when he played for us. Harry was definitely hampered by Collins, but wasn't amazing.
Swiss it's a myth Harry is slow, I do admit his running style gave the impression he is slow.

Pace wise he wasn't too bad, but reactions, speed of thought, turning all seemed to be delayed as brain and legs engaged

It aint about him, although he has improved since the handball at Millwall

Those 3 today looked good, strong solid, with a brain in the middle

I may have Miss heard it but in Wrights interview last week he seemed a little apprehensive about stepping up.didnt seem like him

Look at ability and it's Harry, but he chose to leave whereas Jack chose to join, just the sort that Chris Wilder has sought all season.

Maguire has suprised me just how good he's turning out to be, he could easily play Midfield now from what i've seen of him this season.

JOC has been very good and will also improve.

Obviously, Maguire is ahead of him but JOC can only get better and he will do with better players around him.

I interpreted the question as 'is JOC better than Harry was when he left' rather than just 'is JOC better than H'?
Either way, no.
