Personally i think Jack O'Connell is as good as Maguire in League One (at least), and i hope we can keep him for as long as possible. I don't see him being a weak link in our Championship team, he's built like a blast furnace.

Obviously Maguire has his praises throughout football this season and has been linked with a "soon-to-be" England call up.

For me I prefer Jack O'Connell. He could become a bit of a legend here if he stays here for the rest of his career ala Chris Morgan.

Oh my, Pinchy will not like that. Not at all.

(I think it's a difficult question to be honest. Jack looks as good as Harry at this level, but Harry has shown his ability at the top since leaving. I think Jack could definitely push on to Harry's level though; his touch and passing is better already, but we've yet to see him against particularly great strikers.)

its not even a contest. JOC.

Harry was ok but very slow and a heavy (not fat) young kid when he played for us. Harry was definitely hampered by Collins, but wasn't amazing.

Both next season please!!!!!

Whilst I purr at the prospect of HM coming back to us, alas I think it is highly unlikely. He has performed brilliantly this season and I can see him playing for top half PL club next time out, if not a top 6 club. Basically he will be on 50 grand + a week come September.

Still Harry at this moment, but JOC has made great strides to be compared to him. Very similar attributes, JO'C has a better touch but HM was a bigger threat at set pieces.

Would I be right in guessing we paid around 250k for him?

Superb bit of business.

It aint about him, although he has improved since the handball at Millwall

Those 3 today looked good, strong solid, with a brain in the middle

The Harry Maguire I saw play against Boro a few weeks back was a different class.
We can hope JOC rises to a similar level.

Would be nice to have both of em at the back in this formation

Maguire to be fair, but how the hell can I not vote for JOC this season.

FFS, give the lad a chance.

JOCs been immense this season. But Harry is on the brink of a deserved England call up and would fetch >£10m if sold.

But I agree, he looks more than capable of stepping up next year.

UTB

And the rest. I think you would be looking at £15-20m with Chelsea favourites to sign him. Terry is past it, Cahill will be soon and Luiz is shit. What's our cut?

Maguire hasn't progressed as quickly as expected but he's started to show he can do it at the top level now. JOC has a lot of the same qualities. They share that same odd look as they both manage to look a bit clumsy whilst being so good with the ball at their feet.

Maguire's proven himself at a step up, JOC's got that to do. Until then, you have to give it to the one who's done it in the higher division.

As much as I like o Connell and think he'll do well for us next season, no one can seriously think he's a better player than Maguire. It's like comparing sharp with Harry Kane. GET REAL

Come on lads, O'Connoll has been class for us this season but Maguire is on the verge of an England call up. Clearly it's Maguire but it doesn't take away from the exceptional season JOC has had. Can't compare him to a lad playing 2 levels above of s similar age.

That's true, but I think Maguire is badly in need of a transfer up (especially if Hull get relegated). Only then will we see if his progress is consistent. To some, a comparison between HM and JOC may seem ludicrous but I remember playing the pigs at home and 2-0 up. My grannie could have cleared one of the Wendy goals off the line quicker than HM. JOC today was utterly immense. It's a difficult position to judge. HM was first noticed in the 2011 Youth Cup Final where he looked a 'man amongst boys'. John Terry made a living out of defending like a starfish. Cahill is steady but no way 'world class' and Stones at £47.5m is a fucking joke. David Luiz v Man. United was shocking. You don't have to be that good to be a decent central defender - physique is all.

I wonder what odds you can get for them to be starting as England's centre back pairing in a few years time. Must be worth a few quid at least.
