You look at the facilities fans had in the past and I don't particularly think they were treated well or kindly it was a case of pack as many in as possible sod comfort or safety!

Standing is what helps atmospheres. Imagine the kop all standing all game long!

My German pal messaged me a week ago and asked why the Premiership was like an opera, he really means like a library.
Told him many reasons, fans treated like hooligans if they get to excited and emotional. Sit down.

It's also because of the lack of standing. We need that back asap on the kop type stands in each stadium. At least in part to each Kop.

One commentator said last year, I think during the spurs match in the cup, that Bramall Lane was one of the truly raucous football grounds left in English football, or words to that effect.

I feel it's nowhere near the racousness of the 80s 90s and early 00s.

Is there an advantage for us if we are an early adopter of safe standing?

The kop needs redevelopment anyway. Build it tall, and verticle, and standing.

Shoreham wall.

Kop needs to be safe standing. All of it.

Couldn't agree more. Its not impossible anymore. If done correctly it could set us apart. It could easily be safer than the status quo on the kop, with a bit of thought and redesign.

I went to a Hertha match last season. Saw hardly anyone on their phones and/or going to the bog every 10 mins to stick blow up theit beaks. Also didnt see mass exodus 10 mins before HT and FT.
The first time that I went to watch Bayern in the Allianz the atmosphere was fantastic, me and the wife spent a lot of the time just watching the Bayern fans to our left massed in the standing area. It was a night game, and beer delivered to our seats made it even better.
Did the 1860 games in the Allianz too, not always as full but still enjoyable.
Dresden brought 25k, Nuermburg brought 35k, never seen so many away fans at a league game.

The German fans enjoy a Totally different atmosphere to over here, and have more respect for the law.
Too many here think they have to get drunk or drugged up and attack the away fans to enjoy a match ..

I started going to the lane in 1957 and always stood on the Kop, great times, but the atmosphere change mid sixty's it stopped being fun because some decide to make it a gang war, and some supporters ? decided to form their own privet army's and fighting in and outside the clubs became more important to them than the football it's self.
As for safe standing, no matter what so called safe system you adopted there will always be some clowns around to make it unsafe,..... .

And the prevalence of mobile phones, getting ready to record “limbs”. Same for music concerts, is anyone actually watching and listening in the moment?

Saw some great tweets about the noises and atmosphere by neutrals watching on Sunday. Saw one from a City fan saying when the 3 sides of the ground erupted he’d never heard noise like it… was something like that, can’t find the tweet now.

We can knock out atmosphere at times but one things is for certain and that’s when Bramall Lane is rocking we are up there with the best when it comes to noise and atmosphere without a shadow!

Was it bush warfare?
