He'll definitely be staying here.

We'll need him.

Not sure he'll get much game time though. Er have enough players to not risk him injuring himself again

Agree with that Ricky. Thankfully we have strengthened our attack very well this month so there is no pressure to rush him back either. Don't expect to see him before mid/late March, but what an ace he could prove to be for those last 5 or 6 games.

Our bench when he gets back will be difficult to pick.

Ramsdale
Wright/EEL/Basham
Riley/Lafferty
Carruthers/Coutts
O'Shea
Hanson/Lavery
Chapman

No room for Wilson, Scougall, Brooks, Clarke, McNulty and Done.

Not to mention Long, Hussey an Reed.

I think our squad's a bit too big now so hopefully we can shift a few before the deadline.

Surely we'd have to bring him in before the deadline on Tuesday considering there's no loan window anymore? Or is he technically still with us and just getting treatment at boro?

We could do with him though. He's a game changer

That's really puts it into perspective.
I know Wilder has said he's going to be selfish about who he let's go but when it's over crowded he could easily slip up with the bench he picks.
I keep banging on about Brooks but the Fleetwood game would have been perfect for him to get a pressure-free 10min at the end to give it a go.
Your "no room" boys can all go except Brooks for me, the "not to mention" three too. That still leaves 5 from your original lineup that won't even make the bench.

This will be great news if we can get him back in the squad next month. We should have some genuine wide attacking threat with Harry, Riley, O'Shea and maybe even Carruthers.

Getting rid of 4 would see the numbers about right, striking the balance between a streamlined squad and having plenty of cover.

The 4 we should get rid of to me is perfectly clear.

Long, Hussey, Reed, Scougall.

Long is third choice.

Hussey is at least third choice.

We have signed two midfielders and Reed was never even used before they arrived. He needs to play games now.

The two we've signed can both play in the only position Scougall should be used (AMC) and both are better than him, meaning he's at least third choice there. He's not a good impact player and both are better options than him on the bench, as is Brooks for me.

Then the fifth candidate would be Clarke now Hanson's arrived but I can take him or leave him, although I'd rather keep him for now. Wouldn't want him playing against us.

I'd add McNulty but FIFA punish players who have already played for two clubs by not letting them play for a third.

But I only expect Hussey to leave unfortunately. I also expect Scougall to continue to somehow get on the bench every week.

I am surprised that people think Long is 3rd choice. I am not sure that would be the case if something did happen to Moore. He is getting a lot of game time for u23's and although not on the bench I am sure he would get the nod over Ramsdale to start if required. Even if not, I doubt he goes anywhere before the end of the season.

Don't get it with wanting to offload scouggs,he's done well in the games he's played in this season.
He's a tryer, and chips in now and again.

Who misses out on the bench instead of him then?

Bear in mind...

1 GK
1 CB
1 RB/LB/WB
2 midfielders
2 forwards

bleeding trier!?
He's like a fly in your kitchen. He buzzes about, he doesn't go near anything, he looks busy, he's fast but in no particular direction, I'm sure he irritates the opposition but after a while you see he's harmless and stop worrying about him until laterecently when he gets injured and goes down.
He's not a kid anymore. He's 24. He's scored 7 times in 70+ games and nobody even knows his best position yet.

Scougs has contributed this season but we've signed better players in the positions he can occupy. I doubt he will leave this week but at the same time I think his days here are numbered

He's not even fast, he's one of our slowest players! Not his fault, he's tiny. In any straight race between him and even an average paced opponent he's comfortably second best. He's not bad over the first 5 yards or so but that's it.

The fact that Scougall and Done are classed as 'quick' shows how slow we've been for years!

He'd beat Bolt over 5 yards, with those little stumpy legs.

CW has for some reason had both Wilson and Wright on the bench recently. I don't think that will change.

If Basham is dropped to the bench he covers a multitude of positions, BUT, again i think he will be kept in the starting line up.

Better than Scougall and they've not even played a game for us yet?

Wilder said they were in talks to bring Chapman back when he is fit the problem will be who pays his wages till he is fit.It would suit boro for him to come back here as he's no chance of first team football there this season. Negotiations maybe ongoing

Sorry but it was like playing with 10 men in the 2nd half last Tuesday night.
To lightweight no pace get rid.

Because he's the forums designated 'not good enough' player for this month. Matt Done and Billy Sharp previously held that honour.

Of course not so much as a mouse fart with regard to the fucking shit defence which has shipped 34 goals by January....

I think you've missed something?

Why has Ramsdale been chosen over Long in some games this season then?

Long will never play for the first team again and neither should he!

You cannot put a keeper like that between the sticks and hope to win games. Simple really!

Unfortunately you're right!

His name will come up in a pub quiz 20 years from now and we will all have forgotten him.
