Just curious on people's thoughts here......

Assuming Harrison plays as many games as Harry did for us, do you think Harrison will be as good as, better than or not as good as Harry by the time he is 21?

My own thoughts are that Harrison will surpass Harry by the time he's 21, he's only played a few 1st team professional games and he's already a great amount of promise, I feel more so than what Harry did at 18.

Im not a Harry hater now he's gone, I hope his career goes onto better things, im just more focused on our own player and the talent that we possibly have.

Harrison can go further as he's a bit quicker But he'll never have Harry's power or talent on the ball.

It's up to Harrison - his attitude has been questioned - but if that's as good as Harry's was, he'll go far.

Cant say where he'll be in 3 years really. I think at this stage in Harry's career he showed more promise personally, and his first few games were in the league above too where he impressed by having Bellamy in his pocket. Like any 18 year old, McGahey could develop over the next couple of years into a great player, he could also not progress at all.

If we're just comparing McGahey to where Harry was at his age, I think Harry was better and showed more promise.

Harrison will be better.

Hull took Harry for the wrong reasons - we will see shortly when he gets farmed out to a championship club.

Harry has certain limitations that if he hasn't got by now, he will never have. Having said that, good luck to the lad - no complaints over his attitude/commitment or his eagerness to go to a presently smaller, but progressive club in the Premier League.

I think Harry looked better at the same age but I base that on one factor, which is how good Harry was on the ball. He looks a naturally better footballer than Harrison.

I'd say Harrison looks a more natural athlete, and in the coming years I think we'll see him put on a bit more size - he could be a beast. I'm not confident that he'll ever be Harry's equal on technical ability but I think he will be just as strong and powerful, as well as more agile and slightly quicker.

Difficult to say, for me they are very different players. Maguire is more of an old fashioned, big strong tall centre back. McGahey is more of the modern day, not as tall, but much more athletic. Obvious example of the 2 types are Mertesacker and Koscielny for Arsenal.

McGahey has one flaw in his game that Maguire doesn't have - really poor distribution. He needs to work on that if he is to be as good as Maguire.

Agree 100%. But I'd say he has one big strength Harry doesn't have - he's an Athlete. And it's easier to overcome the first one than the second one.

As far as Hull maybe, not too much sunshine up there...

Of course Maguire's better. He plays for another club. Their players are always better than ours.

Wow, you're incapable of offering a genuine, measures opinion on football aren't you?

Harrison seems to be very composed on the ball. If he could sort out his distribution maybe add to his skills as well then I reckon he will be better than Maguire in a few years time.

Harrison prior to joining us had only played like 4 first team games for Blackpool. So give him some time and let's see what he becomes.

...and this is said without irony or embarrassment...

Priceless.

Hmm so I offer a response relevant to the thread stating my reasons.... You in turn offer nothing to the thread other than a pathetic personal response of no substance. Waste of a post as it provides nothing to the thread.

Agreed ..... and interestingly somebody posted on here a while ago that Morgan thought that Harrison was a little better than Harry at the same age.
He makes some errors, but so did harry when he was 18. Lets give him a bit of a chance to prove himself ......

I like him but he made a strange error in the 2nd half today. He did well to know off his opponent allowing himself plenty of space and time to head the ball but mistimed badly and completely missed the ball

Maguire and McGahey would have probably made a good partnership in the long run. At the minute I still think McGahey is still short of what Maguire was at the same age. Ideally we'd still have Maguire with McGahey learning the ropes in the reserves with the occasional first team outings until he was ready for a decent run in the team.

I thought McGahey was awful in the first few games but he is improving.

"Knock off" not "know off"

I was thinking the same myself. That's why I find it hard to compare the potential between the two players at the same age, because they're very different even though they play in the same position. I think we've done well to get McGahey and I can see him being a cracking player in a few years.

McGahey still very green but is a willing pupil under Collins .

He certainly is a prospect and is improving every game

My mate said McGahey reminded more of a Kilgallon type defender than a Maguire. I'd say that's a fair assessment, he seems to be improving every week.

Let's be reet not many defenders are going to beat Maguire's introduction to league football.. first challenge putting Craig Bellamy on his arse, marvellous.

I think HM2 has progressed nicely from the start of the season. Like every young player, he needs everything to settle down around him which it is now.
