We've all spoken about our problems at CH this season and most of us had written off McGahey as a Sheff utd player full stop after his run of poor performances under Clough last season.

He is clearly a young player with huge potential and if used correctly and guided by Adkins I think we have a proper player there. He looked excellent in the air vs Rochdale and Oldham, he's an absolute unit and I think with a run of games he could be outstanding for us. Being 20 as a CB means he will make errors but if we are patient with him, think he's capable of being better than Maguire..

Thoughts?

From what I've seen I'd say he isn't anywhere near as good as Maguire was, he just doesn't seem comfortable in possession in the same way Maguire was.

I do have high hopes for him though, he does the basics well and will only get better with more game time. He deserves his place currently, due in no small part to having no other bugger to play there, but he's worked hard and got his chance and seems to be taking it so far. Hope he continues to improve and impress.

As I have said elesewhere, he was pretty much man of the match for me at Oldham, and hopefully can improve over time.

Wishful thinking. He's a decent squad player atm and nothing more. He was horribly out of position for an attempt on goal by Oldham, and really floundering. From what I've seen this happens once a game.

If he gets the chance to stick around he'll improve but he's not the answer, for now.

He's obviously got a long way to go, but I was impressed by his attitude on Saturday.
He seemed in control of most situations, didn't shirk anything, and seemed to be talking to those around him.

There was one moment in the second half when an Oldham player attacked straight through the centre of our midfield unchallenged and knocked the ball a bit too far ahead of himself towards McGahey in the penalty area. He then lunged at the ball and it looked for a second as though he might connect with McGahey but he just stood up, cleared the ball and jumped over the Oldham player.

He was played out of position last year, right-back and even up front so glad to see him back in the centre and seemingly playing ok.
I actually think our best centre-back partnership could be him and Kennedy injuries permitting, at least until we sign someone else.

For me he's a work in progress, needs experience which ideally would come from U21's, or a loan to teams where there might be a bit less pressure while he learns the game and gets first team minutes. I don't think anybody wants him in our first XI at this stage, but that's not his fault.

For all the stick Collins gets, he does seem good at mentoring young centre half partners. Maguire has been very complimentary about how he helped him develop and I know Kennedy has as well. So it’s no surprise to hear that young Harrison I showing improvement now he’s playing alongside him.

I disagree with the bit suggesting he could be better than Maguire. At 20, Maguire was much further along than Harrison. Harrison has the physique in his favour (as Maguire did) but has a way to go to even be a consistent league 1 centre half. That being said, I hope he continues to develop and improve.

I still think he could do with a loan move somewhere although only once we have brought in another centre back.

That won't happen though.

He's not and won't be better than Harry, but he has potential to play in the championship. Tel is never going to make it unfortunately, I'd rather we cut our losses and focus on McGahey.

Maybe it's bc of recent frantic deployment of the Ignore option but fwiw I reckon the assessments on here are pretty fair.

I would add that on the plus side he is very vocal: communicating, organising etc. This was really noticeable when the ground was quiet for the Notts County game.

Hope he continues to develop all areas of his game.

Poleon got round the back of him easily on Saturday and should really have put Oldham 2-1 up just before the break with that header.

The lad has the height and build to be a CB, but needs to work on the positional side of his game before we can start to look at him as a regular starter for United.

He's got a lot going for him but a lot to learn as well. He makes too many basic mistakes but I don't think he's too far away from eliminating them from his game. Simply needs game time, but when will he get it? I hope he can play well enough to keep Edgar out when he gets back.

Time to give this lad a chance after 20+ poor performances from the Collins-Edgar partnership? Basham not a CH for me and we need his legs in midfield.
